We may be the first generation to live forever
>Aging will likely be cured in the next 60 years

How will this affect society?
How will this affect religious people (Christians, Jews, Muslims mostly)?
Assuming you survive until then, what are your thoughts on technological upgrades? Gene editing?

Go on /pol/. Tell me what's up.
I think it is pretty exciting.

The goal is to become God literally, we are made in his image. God wants us to accelerate our growth and be fruitful both physically and intellectually.

You are spying on me. I was thinking about the UFO tech and knowledge we would have to stay alive for 1000 years or more, and then started thinking about how that would change socially.

I think anyone that has studied conciousness and Near Death Experiences realizes that the soul is real. There is no explainable single "point" that makes up your conciousness.
That doesn't mean the abrahamic soul or religious soul, it means there is a field that interacts with the world through the brain in some capacity. The better the brain, the more clearly the "soul/field" shines through.
In this way, death is not a huge deal, but a return. Perhaps the field/soul comes here to learn. Like a bored creature, we may pick a challenging experience for the growth.

I wonder if we will eventually grow to understand how such a mechanism works. I hope so. I think it is exciting.

That is a beautiful and kind way of thinking. I hope religious people share this mindset.

In a future death will be seen as an optional reset. We know consciousness is outside the brain, then such an action isn't really a huge deal.
A voluntary "I want to see another life" is a good thing for some people. And unlike suicide, in which you leave with suffering and guilt and don't fulfill what your consciousness incarnated in this world to learn, it would be a gentle procedure.
There is no guarantee that your consciousness will decide to return to a human. It will be a sentient creature, but with aliens and the cosmos, as well as time not really applying, who knows.

I think it is beautiful. This way of thinking has brought me much peace.

When they in 2025 cannot fix wars, famine and spread intencional diseases for profit.

People are too stupid now.

Yeah but we do that by his gift and not by using technological jewish tricks. Remember, core to judaism is tricking God himself

That is not the same. I believe that applies more to slavery and domination. That would be the worst timeline.
I'm thinking of a beautiful one, and one that might actually be likely.

Gene editing will remove much of the racial issues with retards spawning around the world. And with aging not being an issue, eventually you will survive long enough to reach a post-scarcity society, where everyone is extremely intelligent, maybe even on par with great AI's.

If this were to happen in our current political climate I would start a religion that culls anyone over 80. A senior jihad as it's primary tenant. In fact, maybe I should start now. Seems like it might make the world a better place.

You don't seriously believe the treatment for longevity will be available to the average person do you? Also you can't "cure" aging without disobeying the laws of physics, maybe slow the affects for a few decades

The boomers will not be here for this. No one in a position of power will be here in 60 years, and a good chunk of us will not be here either. There is a very low chance I will make it to when this is put in progress, let alone see it rolled out to people that can afford it.

The One seeks novelty - being alone, eternal, and all-knowing
In order to experience novelty it "shatters" itself into infinitely many amnesiac pieces placed in a neverending process of becoming.
These pieces get pissed off due to their ignorance and suffering even though they do experience novelty.
Death also wipes their memories, leading to them starting from scratch over and over even if they do gain awareness of their ultimate source and the overall purpose of change and their sufferings.
If they turn to mysticism and reunite with the source, then death/ignorance/suffering disappear, but then they seek novelty again.
The grass is always greener.
The only way to end the false dichotomy is to straddle the line between being a mortal in the world of change, and full reunion with the One.
The fine line between being an automatic sleepwalker and fully waking yourself up, aka being a lucid dreamer.
By realizing the purpose of eternal change, you release yourself from ignorance and suffering, and from the grass-is-greener trap.
By becoming immortal, you avoid the mindwipe and endless restarts.
By avoiding full reunion, you remain in the eternal flow of novelty.
This is the final goal of the One, the reason it started this whole process to begin with

All Near Death Experiences point to the "self" being maintained.
There is no dissolving into a "...ONE...". You are a sentient, individual creation.
At least, that's what we know for now.
