What were sub-Saharan Africans doing for tens of thousands of years in the stone age? Even Jeets have architecture and metallurgy. Even the Mayans had writing. Even Cro-Magnon had the wheel.

I find it utterly astounding that an entire continent has been in stasis and would still be in stasis if Arabs and Europeans had not given them free tickets to (over)populate their nations.

Basically people who live in jungles keep walking into societies that have experienced enough scarcity to have some order develop and turn everything into being about sex and violence again. So mostly nothing ever happened. But this is true for every group that happen to be walkable to a jungle. Even South America in the temperate southern region had no societies.

Basically Africa started their equivalent to the Dark Ages at exactly the moment big boats and guns were invented and they've never got their feet back under them.
