and it wasn't even technical at all, like they didn't grill me on any lc, sql queries, etc. no DSA, no systems design, no computer trivia

it wasn't even purely tech it was at like some small non tech company

and within like 1 minute of me talking about my self, the guy was like "ok hang on ur not doing this right, let's turn this into an interview on how to interview" and then just went over every single way i screwed up

since the guy was brown (tho could hardly tell if indian or sth else), i have a hunch he wanted to hire someone else of the same brown ethnicity. but like he was pretty obviously a 2nd gen zoomer american (like me but 10x more employed) so maybe that might genuinely not have been the case

To be honest, the Automotive industry is MAXIMUM POZZ, from what I've heard from Mechanics.
The diagnostic machine that is NECESSARY to even do anything on a car, is something insane like 80K + a yearly subscription to firmware updates.
Cars here are going the route that large appliances did, they are designed to FAIL in an expense way in 3-5 year increments a few times, then you are supposed to give up and just Buy/Lease an new one.

It might just be better to start your own large appliance company like Refrigerators, Stoves and Dishwashers that last for 100 years and while styles may differ, parts are easily found.

I'll expand further on this and recommend people not do it. The name of the game in academia is publish or perish. You will be strongly pressured to target more prestigious conferences, which have lower acceptance rates, and where you will be competing with all of China. Rejection is common and you can expect it to take a toll on your mental health.

If your mentality is "if a bachelor's isn't enough, just go higher", know that a PhD is a different ball game entirely, and not for the faint of heart.
