Nobody does school shootings from 100m away. Rifles don't give any significant advantage, and instead give significant disadvantages - namely being heavy, large, difficult to conceal.

You can shoot someone multiple times with a pistol and they'll live if nothing immediately vital is struck, would they survive in say 1890? No, but thanks to modern medicine they'll be fine.

Does that mean a 22 is worthless? You can still be shot in the head, lungs, or an artery with it.
