I've seen how it works when you "tax the rich" it's been done enough times that you can't just mumble about this time being different. EVERY SINGLE TIME the actual Milburn Pennybags motherfuckers everyone rightly thinks of as "the rich" get exempted from taxes because they personally know the politicians. Or they just fuck off to a place with lower taxes like Florida or Texas. Now that there's no Scrooge McDuck vault to raid, the tax man comes after the middle class, the guys rich enough to own a house instead of renting, doesn't use food stamps, maybe even goes on vacation every year or two. They're richer than the lower class, at least. Of course, they didn't wine and dine the mayor at the last MET gala and they can't just pack up at the drop of a hat and get a new job elsewhere, so the middle class is stuck with a billionaire's bill.
