They need the Jews to re-build the Temple so Jesus comes back anon.

To do that they will need to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest places of Islam, provoking a massive war: Armageddon.

They don't want to be there when that happens. They want to wait patently in a safe place until Jesus comes and takes them to heaven, leaving almost all of the Jews except for 1000, the Muslims and all the unbelievers to rot.

Mistaken notions of rapture and Armageddon are what tie people to that particular piece of land.
