I don't know why, but I've always been fascinated by the Russian Far East, whether it was the mountains of Kamchatka or Cape Dezhnyov within the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Is it the untouched wilderness? Or is it the vast distance between Vladivostok and European Russia? I know the chances of this are slim, but are there any anons currently living in this region? How's life there? Tell me everything about your culture, habits, climate, anything really.

Northeast Russia is very desolate outside of Magadan. Like, even more desolate the northern Canada. Less than 300k people live in a region the size of Texas. The last mountain range discovered outside of Antarctica was the range northeast of the Kolymas iirc. The northern coast is mostly frozen wasteland with a few nomadic natives living in small settlements.

Would honestly be a great place to setup a break away civilization if we find a way to generate heat cheaply. The area between Gizhiga and Penzhina bays would be prime for this. Unlimited tidal power from the bays and massive amounts of natural gas in the region. Gold is another major resource. Magadan produces like 40% of Russia's gold.
