The end game is to not let a foreign country take your country by force. Russia has already lost the war, they just don’t know it or just don’t accept it. The damage done to Russia from this war will take many decades to recover from. Same with Ukraine, but they don’t have a choice. Even if Russia takes all of Ukraine, they still loose. They will be fighting espionage and insurgents for many decades to come and a populace that will not accept them.
