We import way more tangible resources than we produce. New York can't be agriculturally self sufficient. Also bear in mind that New England would be totally cut off from the rest of the US if we seceded. This was a major factor in the Revolutionary War as the British tried to take control of the Hudson so they could totally sever transport and communication between New England and the rest of the colonies.

When people tell people from New York that they have no farms, it shows how truthfully ignorant you people are in the rest of this country to what the geographical variety that New York has. Long Island I would say is probably bare minimum like 15% farm. Probably more. I mean just buy me alone. I can think of three farms that are within 10-minute drive and in another neighboring area I can think of a handful of farms also that are also wineries that also do great business. Our farms here don't really rely on the rest of the world to keep them afloat. Our farms for the most part sustain themselves by selling their products to the community, but you live wherever you live and I won't pretend to be an expert about your backwoods State, but clearly you don't know anything about New York. When one of the things that you say about New York is that there are no farms in New York. You've never been here
