Worse then the fire ants are white footed Japanese ants. We started getting them here. They are very hard to get rid of, I had to let off a bug fogger in my car to get rid of them after they somehow invaded my car

They invaded my Houston house early 2000s but I bought poison for their queen, so that was that for them.
One thing I noticed though, the fire ants disappeared everywhere in the Houston area later in the 2000s. Instead we got those sugar ants, smaller and harmless. But they got into electronics if the electronics were on the bottom floor.

I still recommend the borax trick. Search online for more info. It is supposed to kill them slowly which is good for having it poison the other ants in the colony like the queen rather than quickly kill off those that made initial contact.
