Dramatically more people are leaving religion every passing year than those that join one in that same span of time.

Since society is becoming increasingly secular, many of the kids being indoctrinated into religion right now will be atheists by the time they are grown up.

Continuously improving science education, and the inevitable realization that all religions were made up by primitive people thousands of years ago, are in fact the driving factors behind religion declining.

All of this means your descendants have a chance at reaching the stars, a feat only possibly by embracing scientific methodology.
