>Be me
>Federal government contractor
>Do very similar work to what the federal wagies do
>Still getting paid while federal wagies aren't being paid
>Overhear them complaining.
>One took a "shutdown" loan from their credit union
>Another is eating into their savings
>Meanwhile I was able to buy the newest iPhone and got my Camry detailed and reupholstered

This is weird. Why would anyone ever work for the government?

I do because my company still makes sure I do. Somewhat. It's not constant work. Some downtime.

It's the trade off for being able to do nothing all day (although I chose to do that at a private company instead)

Things will never change until the intelligence agencies, underground military-industrial-complex lairs and defense contractor facilities are stormed and the glowniggers and parasites who work there are executed and the data they collect is leaked to the public so that the rest of these government assets, zogbots, mercenaries, glorified jannies and authority figures can be hunted down and exterminated.

Depends on the level you're at with a company. Some you can get away with more than others. I was spectated and held to keystroke metrics with my last job. This one has been more independent and ironically pays more.

In theory, it was historically more secure to have a government job because it was really hard to get rid of you after the first three years and you got decent benefits. Now that's not really the case and I can't imagine ever giving up my contractor gig for it. The last month has been absolute bliss.

What i don't understand is with all this fuckery about the shutdown immediately following the gutting of the federal workforce, why are people in federal work still doing it for janny wages? At some point, you'd think they would just go get another job if they could.
>if they could
Oh...
