Money = Freedom.
Anything else is a cope.
That's quite literally the only realistic answer, as every other answer will leave you under the heel of some ruling system.
You can live in total poverty in the middle of nowhere tending to your crops and feel good about yourself, however without wealth the system will be able to fuck you up if it wants to and there's nothing you can do about it.
However if you have fuck you money, you can move at a moment's notice anywhere you want.
If it looks like your own system is going to shit, you just up and leave. If you have a medical problem, you can pay to get it fixed and you're not reliant on any system doing it for you.
Only way to make money nowadays is to invest into something, as it's the only possible leverage you can use to reach a point of not having to give a shit.

Freedom is happiness
The financial part is unavoidable, some people can't accept non traditional success, but you can change that.
Some people though can't accept not doing what is right of them, what they feel compelled to do and achieve not for themselves but for something greater. I think for these people freedom can only ever be achieved by following that path, in spite of all of the easier roads that would surely prevent themselves. Personally I would never do anything that would make me unhappy for a long period of time as I don't really consider that to be a free or fulfilling life. So I don't understand how people push themselves and make themselves suffer daily without trying to seek any alternative solution possible. There's also health, which I think is an absolute prerequisite for everything. The capability to do and the beauty it gives you are mandatory for true freedom, without them you will never feel complete as a human I think. All of these things you can learn to cope and deal with them, and I don't think that's a bad thing, but I do think it's bad to accept coping as the default rather than seeking change and utilizing your capability to cope with it as a tool. This is why I'm very weird personally about drug use, as it is certainly a tool that can and has allowed many people to achieve success in life. We're taught to accept what we have and mediocrity and live in a world where we're taught it's hopeless. It's not. You can literally just do anything. Figuratively and literally. I'm certain a lot of people here could achieve anything if they were healthy enough and found the right balance of coping, finding happiness, and utilizing willpower. I'm just a NEET still, so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but despite that I've managed to become middle class and live in a major city with just determination 2 do so. Sacrifices have to be made smetimes though I think regardless. Just think about what you want & do whatevr it takes
