They are microscopic single dots. IDK where. Possibly the edge of the page or a grid that is overlaid over every print. Too small to see visually or effect scanning.

Scanners and printers also have firmware to detect if you are trying to scan/print currency and will reject the job.

Modern printers are garbage. I got a new epson last year and it wouldn’t let me print unless i subscribed to their bulshit and downloaded an app. It also won’t print with 3rd party ink, and it stops printing if the ink cartridges are a quarter full and forces you to replace them. I’ve been meaning to find a working used printer.

Apparently the tracking sequence is all over the page and repeated multiple times for redundancy/error correction. You're going to be cutting off a hell of a lot to make it properly incomplete.

I'll have to check this out the next time I print something- the pictures on Wikipedia make it look like the dots should be fairly visible if you know to look for them.

Buy a used printer. Do your secret printing. Blend the eeprom/nand, serials and trash the unit.

Alternatively, install custom firmware.

Whatever you do, keep in mind that possessing a printer that doesnt have tracking dots is potentially incriminating and that you can still be tracked due to tolerance and quality quirks that make your printer unique when compared to other units.

Get a garage sale or goodwill printer for cheap with cash, buy the ink with cash, and use it to print as many copies of your manifesto or whatever as you need. When you're done but before you use your illicit papers for nefarious deeds smash the printer and throw the pieces away in separate garbage or e-waste bins, ideally with other, similar waste. Don't leave your crime printer in your basement with your old laptop and 10 year old smartphone.

And install the printer's software (if needed, default drivers would be better) on some shitty curb found PC or laptop that itself never connected to your personal internet -- don't print directly from your up to date Windows 11 gaming PC that's always online. Pop the BIOS battery out for a while to really fuck with the data the dots will show. That computer's harddrive should probably spend some time with an electric sander afterwards too. NVMe and sata SSDs are pretty small now if you rip off the plastic bits, it shouldn't take long to turn data into dust.

And don't distribute these paper crimes with your phone connected to the network, tell it to play some 4 hour youtube video and leave it plugged it in at home. Don't use Google maps to commit crimes.

To answer your question of compatibility, yes, pretty much all OSs will have old laserjet drivers baked into them and you shouldn't need to download anything . I have an old Laserjet 4 from 1992 and it still works fine with pretty much any modern OS.

There's a lot of businesses out there that still use them because if you periodically maintain them, they run forever.

The problem is as soon as it becomes widely known, the loophole will be closed. Basically, you need to get something that isn't actually a printer, but can print documents. That's all I'll say.

How many people are going to own this Openprinter? A fraction of a fraction of a fraction, so basically a group of people that can easily be fingerprinted.

when I first found out about the dots, it was several years ago watching forensic files or something similar. They actually caught a murderer with it. Pretty cool.

its funny this thread is here because I was just thinking earlier and like always it was like a chain that led me to other things to ponder, by the time im done it has nothing to do with my original thought lol but I ended up thinking how someone could make and print posters with kike facts or. . whats in the talmud...or.. let's overthrow the government with or code.. but then I thought not only could they get me thru the tracking dots, but because its a wifi printer and you have to use the software, when the image passes thru their server first an ai somehow detects it and wont let me print it lol

either way , plan foiled by jews again. gonna jail me for antisemetic posters.
