If Adam and Eve are of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, did modern science cause us to collectively eat of the Tree of Life? It seems the Bible is making an extremely subtle point.

I get what you are trying to say though, OP. You are thinking in abstractions, and I respect that. You suppose the tree of life to be a metaphor for something mystical of the mind, like developing scientific inquiry, right? It’s an interesting idea.

But no, science is not the tree of life. Though you could argue that it is man’s attempt at growing his own tree of life, lengthening lifespans, delaying death, etc.

Well, in a manner of speaking then yes, there has always been and still exists realms of philosophy and even science dedicated to achieving indefinite life aka immortality. No clue how they hope to achieve that, but my guess is the way it will be achieved is through cancer, cancer cells. If we could find a way to reprogram them on a cellular level we could use their rapid self-replicating properties to replace human cells and tissues from deteriorating and maybe gaining eternal life. Who knows.

As for the Tree of Knowledge & Tree of Life. They were in the Garden of Eden. If they existed in a physical realm, they should both still be hidden away near the River Tigris & Euphrates river, somewhere in the border of modern day Iraq & Iran.
If they were metaphysical and Eden is a metaphysical place, then they will never be found in this life.

Fun fact many Christians & Jews don't talk about often: The tree of knowledge & the tree of life were intended for us to eat. The problem was we ate of the fruit of knowledge too early in disobedience. If Adam & Eve had waited, they would have been instructed by God to eat the fruit at the appropriate time of spiritual maturity. They would have gained a similar Wisdom to God's. And then they would have been told to eat the tree if life to attain an eternal state, like God's.
God had intended to make us into smaller gods ourselves to share in creation with Him.
