Abolitionists came in many flavors. Not all felt sympathy for the slaves. Some just wanted an end to the nigger rape and low wages that inevitably resulted from slavery (the USA was a 90% agricultural economy until after the civil war).
Some wanted blacks dead. Some wanted them back in Africa (Liberia was founded as a home for freed slaves). Some wanted them left to fend for themselves, which is what ultimately happened.
Not all slave owners approved of slavery. They were forced to buy slaves to remain competitive, the same way today's businesses are forced to outsource or die.
Slavers were the BLM of the 19th century. Nigger loving slavers beat, tortured, killed, and burned down the property of abolitionists all over the country.
>As Owen Lovejoy gave his speech condemning slavery, several Democrats in the audience, brandishing pistols and canes, threatened him with physical harm, to which the Republicans present pledged to defend Lovejoy if the Democrats attempted to attack him. In response to the Democrats' threats, Lovejoy stood firm and responded, "I will stand where I please" and "Nobody can intimidate me."
Eventually we had to fight a civil war to bring them to heel. There was no way of talking them out of it. They were completely addicted to niggers.
But that war was a deal with the devil, because the victory of the federal government over states' rights is responsible for many of the ills of our country today.
