I think it's 3:8-9 that talks about the Jews no longer being the chosen people since Christ and it's now everyone, but yeah that is the actual interpretation of the verse from Genesis. The problem is most protestants, especially Evangelicals, Baptist and other dispensationalists are not really familiar with the New Testament and constantly go back to the old testament, which is important but not as relevant. They are usually trained on the Scofield bible (written in 1909 and revised in 1917) which is more about Zionism and was used by preachers who were never educated on the new Testament.
