This needs to end
Have you noticed that shit doesn't last at all these days? Especially fucking clothes. You pay 200 euro for shoes and they get torn apart within a couple of months. You buy branded clothes and they get destroyed after 3 washes. This wasn't the case in the past. I still have the clothes I wore in high school, it's like time didn't affect em at all. Try buying new clothes now, they won't make it through the weekend

The time when the quality of goods was related to its price is long gone.
Pretty much every big US company now deliberately makes their stuff as crap as possible to make sure people keep buying.

Compare any t-shirt with a common cotton dress shirt. Even if you use that shit every other day for work, a piece of cotton cultivated by slaves in northern China and sewn by children in Bangladesh will still last many years, but your "ethical t-shirt" is a pajama in 5 washes top.

Only wear LEATHER- stitched, not just glued.
You can wear them everyday until the friction on the leather slowly cuts through it after say 4 years.

Had leather shoes that the leather was great but the bottom got a fissure after say 5 years.
Bend them to see if the bottom is not too stiff and never buy shoes hastily.
Leather will slightly give in and become more comfy.

This.
Fast fashion in the 70s distorted the garment industry. Boomers kept wearing their shirty clothing marketed to them in childhood and now the while textile industry revolves around quick marketing gimmicks to get product out the door.

Never wear the same leather every day.
Leather needs every other day off to rest if you want it to last.
Also, there is nothing wrong with glued stuff, just make sure that the stuff is well glued. This is a mith from the 70's when most adhesives were kinda of experimental and would fail out of nowere leaving you barefoot in the middle of a walk. Modern adhesives (fun fact, germany mostly produces them) are a miracle of science. They will penetrate deep into the leather and will last more than the leather.

Also, never buy PVA soles. They are absolute shit. Rubber is the best, and there are no real alternatives when it comes to the ratio of durability and comfort.

Either go for the cheapest products with the expectation of them crumbling like toilet paper, or buy only from specialized "work gear" type shops.

From my 13 to 18 i pretty much only wear converse all-stars. It was my unifrom. Literally walked everywere wearing them until they rip apart. At they were crazy cost effective.
Last year I ended up losing my gym shoes (I forgot them at my girlfriend's house, and we broke up, and I did not want to see her) and decided to get another pair of Converse again. Literally lasted 6 months of gym before poking a hole in the sole. This is insane, i only wear them at the gym, and pretty much only run 2km top, the rest was just weights and stuff. I also notice that the cushing was way, way worse than it used to be. Before they had a soft rubber, and now it was just a scrap piece of PVA.
And is not like Converse is cheap nowadays. You can buy a quality leather boots for the same price, like, wtf?

With major brands there is no correlation between higher cost and higher quality when it comes to longevity or durability.

Used to while not always the highest quality many brands could be expected to have a certain level of decentness to the quality, reputation would ruin them.

Ironically, all the best footwear I've owned has been from South Africa. Bata makes excellent sneakers (pic related). I've also had a pair of Freestyle Recce Boots from South Africa that have survived years of abuse out in the Mojave desert, hiking many thousands of miles and many more than that on my motorcycle. Kommandostore makes a cheaper Recce boot they call a Waxi, it's pretty decent for the price. FireForce Ventures just put out a batch of reproduction Rhodesian combat boots that are very solid as well.

When I have to do something gnarly like walk around in scrap metal or other things that are very likely to ruin a nice leather boot, I wear a pair of Baltes surplus jungle boots. The first pair I bought has lasted a surprisingly long time given the abuse I've put them through.

I've noticed that with sneakers and such like what you have in your picrel. I was on a trip last April where I needed to buy some trail shoes so I got a pair of Vans. They're already falling apart even though I only really wear them from my house to work (and I put on my work boots there).

But I've had those work boots for four years and they're still going strong despite me doing hard work in them. So I do think it's mainly fabric sneaker-type shoes that have had such a drastic drop in quality.

Twenty years ago I bought a pair of New balance sneakers that lasted me ten years, and would have lasted longer except my retard girlfriend at the time threw them out when I wasn't home because she wanted me to buy new goyshit. So it's not like those shoes were always so shitty

I have two pairs of Origin boots made in Murica. They are really nice. Made of beefalo leather. I have a few pairs of their jeans and a leather belt. Good stuff. I would also recommend Patagonia. Even though they are made overseas and the owner is a libtard faggot, they will fix or replace your clothes across almost everything for free or a small fee. My Golden Retriever ate my down jacket when she was a puppy, and I literally wrote them a letter with the jacket saying "attacked by a golden retriever" and a picture of Waffles. They sent me a new jacket. I have a pair of their hemp overalls, and you could beat someone to death with them.

The only way you can be sure if a shoe/boot will last is if it is waterproof, says it is for "garden use" (indestructible) or built for children. I've paid £160 for shoes before and it lasted 6 months before I had to perform monthly maintenance to get it to last a bit longer. That said I've previously purchased shoes for work for £50 that lasted 7 years because I was careful only to wear them indoors, it only got all fucked up when I decided to bring them with me for a walk outside in the rain.
Other pairs I've worn through the sole and been walking on my socks all day stacking boxes until I could get my next pair - literal slavery; in the end I brought my garden shoes in (a pair of clogs) and got fired for inappropriate footwear, if you can believe that it's safer to walk barefoot with a facade of trainer over your feet than it is to wear something comfortable and practical for work. That was the breaking point where I realised work is just for show.

The product's price no longer reflects its material or production cost.
Those cost €10 to produce. What do you expect from €10?
Shoes costing €50 have more care and attention put into them, why not buy those? The brands sold at most fashionable stores aren't €50 to produce, that's why.
The good shit isn't in the typical high street.
You find that at prosumer and hobby/enthusiast outlets like an outdoor specialist for walking boots, and the sort of shop where policemen buy their boots.
You'll probably pay the same €200 for good shoes/boots but the markup isn't Jewish, they cost €120 to make.
I spent €220 on some boots that lasted me for the last 6 years and are still in top nick. Only the inside of the right boot is wearing a little.

The problem is that people still won't spend a lot of money on clothing but inflation hit that market too.
What was €20 to make is now €45 to make.
€100 jeans? €230. But people aren't spending that, so costs are cut in production quality.

Well, shoes last exponentially longer if you don't wear them everyday. You should wear shoes a day, then let them rest at least a day and wear other shoes. That requires you to have more than one pair of course. Also maybe don't wear shoes made of PU and fabric that are just glued together. Wear leather shoes.

Yes, They are very thick rugged leather. Wear two pairs of thick socks when you break them in, try to make the first half dozen wears short trips (run errands, wear them for the evening, etc). don't be surprised if you get blisters. After they're broken in, they are very good boots. For only $20 more they are much better than the Kommandostore waxis.
