some Christian speakers are good at drawing people in with emotionally gripping stories, but what they say lack any real intellectual depth despite being so pleasant or moving.
some are the opposite, they bring up intellectually deep topics but are extremely boring if you're not interested in the jargony stuff they're talking about.
ravi zacharias was able to talk about erudite things and make you interested in them, he'd throw in sartre and nietzsche and camus and dostoevsky and weave them into a defense of the gospel without ever sounding tryhard or pretentious.
he had a big international ministry that took in tons of donations, did amazing work preaching the gospel around the world.
after he died, it turned out a lot of the money donated to it was going toward a secret side project of his. he was running a massage parlor and diddling teenage girls there (he was 74 years old), telling them the sexual favors they're allowing for him were "God's gift" to him for his years of ministry in advancing the kingdom.
it doesn't matter how effectual a speaker is, or how good their arguments are, people like this need to be taken down and not be allowed to be a public face of the church.
