From my limited research they allowed Germans no time to use evidence and the only advantage the Germans had were they spoke the language of the documents shown and were able to explain why they weren’t evil. The most common excuse was everything they were claimed to have committed the US and allies have done the same or worse.
They tortured many of the prisoners and one of them flipped thinking he’d save his own skin. He said Germans did the holocaust and the US and allies hung all of them. Almost all said they have no knowledge of any holocaust or killing jews. Any evidence the Germans wanted to bring forward wasn’t allowed. It was considered a sham at the time and it is really the only “proof” the holocaust has happened
