Because it's in the US. It's normal for a system to ask if you want to pay in local or your currency. Whenever I go outside of the country and use my card the terminal asks if I want to pay in EUR or CHF.

And the correct answer is, always pay in local currency. If you let the payment processor do the conversion you get terrible rates.
