Bird flu. The current version of bird flu has great difficulty transmitting to humans, but when it happens the infected people have a greater than 50% mortality rate. Also a 100% mortality rate in cats, which is just unfortunate. But the point there is that bird flu is already infecting other animals, including cows and pigs. When this becomes a problem for humans, all kinds of animals can act as disease carriers and we will have to basically burn our farms to the ground to prevent infected food from entering common circulation.
This is a natural disaster waiting to happen and anyone paying attention to the problem knows how bad this can be. Logically, we should be doing everything in our power to prevent it. But under RFK the CDC is basically defunct as an organization and they don't believe vaccines are real anyway, so if this turns into a pandemic in the next 3 years we basically just fucking die.
Now, the real question is: do the wealthy and powerful think they can isolate themselves from the illness enough to avoid the consequences of an outbreak? Because if you are a member of the 1% thinking that the poor people are going to come for your wealth sooner or later once you force them into deep enough poverty, it only takes a few crazy assholes to sign us all up for some shit.
