Seems kinda, I don't know... retarded?

That's just how the cookie crumbled apparently it wasn't by design. Fabricating cutting-edge chips is apparently also one of the most difficult things you can do.

I don’t think Americans have the levels of OCD and work ethic necessary to scan every waffer over 1000 times for imperfections 100 times smaller than a human hair.
Boomers can’t
Millennials can’t
Zoomers can’t
Alphas won’t

you're right, that's bugman work. QC on semiconductors is done by machines now, not by humans with a magnifying glass

Asia is cheap (almost slave) labor. If China attacked Taiwan the US could move all production to the USA, but it would cost a lot more money to make it there.

Right now there isn't much reason not to use asian cheap labor.

Basically Taiwan went all in on the industry with massive state support.
State funded education pipelines, tax breaks, subsidies and more.
It's hard to compete with that in a globalised economy.

TSMCs plan right now seems to be keeping the US fabs a generation or two behind their Taiwan fabs.
Which makes sense. They're not going to sell out their homeland for the USA.

Intel has broken free of Israel fortunately and is trying to build up its US fabs again.
Problem is that they don't have the volume and are behind tech wise.

>TSMCs plan right now seems to be keeping the US fabs a generation or two behind their Taiwan fabs.
Lol, no their Arizona one is their most advanced on. Fabs are never built intentionally behind but always cutting edge. Then they gradually shift to lower and lower valued added production over time but never get shut down. If you actually knew the industry and weren't just making up whatever to save face, you would know this.

Incorrect.

Currently its slated to produce 4nm process nodes.
TSMCs Taiwan fabs are currently working with 3nm process nodes.
The Arizona fab is expected to begin producing 3nm in 2028
By current industry projections and timetables the TSMC Taiwan fabs will be working with 1nm processes by 2027

They're not 'moving' anywhere. They're setting up a new small output production facility in the US, so Trump doesn't tariff them. 99.9% of semiconductor output still comes from Taiwan.

Nigga the fab is literally churning out 4nm process stuff right now
You say "oh they never upgrade!" and you're right but you don't know whats going on with that facility
They're currently building the 3nm process facility there right now. Meanwhile 3nm fabs exist in Taiwan now and they're building the 1nm facilities as we speak.

The USA is being kept behind because TSMC know Intel ain't got the chops to catch up and theres no other players in the USA.
So they need to play nice enough to stop you sperging out but not betray their homeland.

Fabs don't upgrade, and hence there's zero reason to build one that is not cutting edge. You're just making up bullshit and talking out of your ass like bugs do whenever they're flustered and saving face.

>First Fab: High-volume production on N4 process technology started in Q4 2024.
>Second Fab: Construction was completed on the fab structure in 2025. Volume production on N3 process technology targeted for 2028.
>Third Fab: In April 2025, TSMC broke ground on the site of the third fab, slated for N2 and A16 process technologies. Targeting volume production by the end of the decade.

Exatly, 3 different fabs. None of them upgrade. Fabs open at a particular process node and stay at it forever. This is how it works...as I keep saying.

A rich Taiwan makes containing China easier, and integrating them into important supply chains makes them invested in upholding the US led order.

Do you not find it weird all the countries needed to contain communism just happened to have rapid industrialization after being allowed to run massive trade imbalances with the US?

It's literally one of the factors that keeps China from invading, because those fabs would either be destroyed or sabotaged. Taiwanese members of government have criticized the TSMC fabs in the US, Japan, and Europe as diminishing their national security. The best chips are still made exclusively in Taiwan.

>>521339869
No, they're not. You just keep saying that because you're ignorant and angry and yellow. FABS NEVER UPGRADE. They make the most money right at the cutting edge when they open, then their value added decreases exponentially over time until they're making chips for digital thermometers and microwaves. Because of this sharp diminishing returns curve, there is ZERO reason to open a fab that is anything less that state of the art.

How else can I explain it to you little yellow boy?
Anonymous (ID: QL/jxJqk) No.521340042 [Report]
>>521338875

Only partly true.
The parts the machines are made from are made in like 50 different countries. Germany for example makes the lenses (but these aren't just a piece of glass, they're as big as a car and have tens of thousands of parts in them and all have to be perfect or the entire thing is defective).
Also, the top part of the machine, which is responsible for positioning everything is exclusively made in America. Only America can make this and without it you have a machine that can't do anything.

Let’s also allow China to control 85% of all the mines which produce microchips. It’s just globalism and part of the plan. They want a system where every country r lies on each other, that way if one country steps out of line it’s easier to sanction.

The only mine in the world that produces silicon pure enough to be used in microchips is located in Spruce Pines in North Carolina.

America literally has a 100% monopoly on the main ingredient for all microprocessors made on the planet.
