Also, illegals don't have to be homeowners to drive up home prices. Even renters drive up home prices, even if they're renting an apartment. There are only so many homes/apartments out there, and they all compete with each other. If there were fewer renters, homes would rent for less, and more landlords would sell their homes into the market to not have to rent at a loss, which would bring home prices down.

This has been studied. The vast majority or vacant homes are waiting for renters or waiting for sale. A smaller minority are vacation homes.
