>>17988464Depends on who you ask, but their downturn happened when Hogan And Bischoff came in in 2010, and hired all their old friends for big money, leaving the TNA OGs in the dust.
The product got better in '11 and '12 when they started pushing Roode, Storm, Aries, etc, but the company was just hemorrhaging money (Hogan was paid $75,000 PER APPEARANCE, and was cut down to $35,000). Losing Spike TV was a huge blow, and Dixie Carter was like Tony Khan in that she listened to everyone's bad advice. Impact went to Destination America, then Pop, and now AXS.
Soon, Panda (the owners of TNA) decided to sell. Billy Corgan tried to buy it and had a big legal battle with Dixie, leading to Anthem to eventually take over.
Meanwhile, NJPW got really hot with Bullet Club, Jericho, Okada and Omega, and many saw it as the new #2. Then NXT was super hot for a bit. Then along came AEW, and the rest is history.
It's amazing TNA bounced back as well as it has, since there were times it looked like it would genuinely shut down. I honestly hope WWE doesn't buy them, and they bring back the six-sided ring.
