$100 million is not an absurd amount of money in mainstream American media. That's comparable to an NHL team payroll, and AEW is valued about as high as an NHL poverty franchise that can't sell out home games. Sure, hockey is a different business, but that's AEW's level.

AEW is not a threat to WWE in any way. AEW is a massive inconvenience to TKO's cost cutting on talent. Especially since they're running out of minimum salary shitters to release.
You can cut a dozen NXT shitters every year with ease, but the top guys start asking for $5 million a year instead of $4 million because of Tony's overbidding and that's a nightmare for penny pinchers.

AEW's ability to overpay talent doesn't take away from the fact that WWE Superstars have been underpaid for a while now. Roman Reigns should be making at least 20 million dollars a year. But he only makes 7 million and he's WWE's highest paid guy. The harsh reality for TKO is that WWE's pay structure is bad for UFC. UFC fighters are even more underpaid than WWE Superstars. The MMA guys will realize that and demand more money from Endeavor. I see WWE letting a lot of people go that are on a lot of money. Some of them will be big names like Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. For TKO cleaning out the aging roster is desirable and for the WWE talent a fat paycheck in AEW is too much to ignore.

WWE's quality has been absolute dogshit since like 2018. I won't say AEW is high-art, but at least they know their programs are dumb. WWE tries to be profound and enlightening, while at the same time firing people before they ever do anything with them and keeping the ones who suck, as well as trying to work angles that don't work.
