CM Punk is the only archetype of this character I enjoy because he knows he’s not an actual underdog in reality- he’s self aware and acknowledges he’s gotten way farther than he should have giving his baseline talent- but he simply deserves just as much as the other white guys who have overachieved with the system on their back- it’s why he’s the only one of these that actually managed to stay over after winning the big one

How could I forget the peak of this character type with the American nightmare himself?- aptly named because he is the American nightmare- an entitled white guy who thinks he’s owed the world because he exists- guy shows up with blonde hair and a suit and now he’s supposed to win the belt- because? His dad was fat and wore polka dots? How on earth did this captivate so many people?- again as a black man. I couldn’t have cared less about Cody’s story and Roman’s was far more enthralling- the family drama with the bloodline and the fact he was actually rejected by the crowd for years and finally started winning them over was more interesting to me- can anyone explain what made Cody’s “story” so good? I'd like to see some good black wrestlers that have mic skills and not just ability. Jay Lethal came closest for his time, but honestly I just don't see it on anyone currently.
