I went to a ROH show in the middle of summer and all the dudes were at their gimmick tables before the show selling t-shirts and whatever. Temperatures were about 95-100, real warm. All the other wrestlers were wearing shorts and t-shirts, a lot of sleeveless vest tops

Narcissism aside, he is so much more likable in interviews than he is when he's doing promos. His promos feel so rehearsed and theatrical, and political like he's running for office or trying to act like a comic book hero monologuing to the villain. In storylines with more gravity to them that's fine to dip into at times, but he desperately needs to loosen up and talk like a normal dude or even casual fans are gonna get totally sick of him.

Personally, I don't think Cody is disingenuous. I think he genuinely does thinks out of half sincerity and half wanting people to like him. But given his new podcast and just in general, you can tell that he doesn't really know how to come across AS genuine, and has a serious chip on his shoulder and thinks his peers are intimidated/don't like/envy/fear him. Go watch his one with Damian, you can infer as much there.
There's also definitely some bitterness in there from the way his life turned out with being "Dusty's kid", his initial WWE run, AEW and everything else in between, but at the end of the day, he's still that same kid who wanted to make his own legacy and live life his own way. I'm just not sure if he's self aware enough to realize most of these faults and tries to grow as a result and act differently.
