With how insanely strong they kept Roman for years, you seriously could have plugged any other wrestler into that role and he'd be the highest drawing wrestler in history. Roman is nowhere near as popular as guys like Hogan, Austin, The Rock, etc. All 3 of those guys were part of the pop culture zeitgeist at the time. The average non-wrestling fan knew who they were.
