Not overrated at all, it's every bit as great as they say it is. But the way this promo has been mythologized is like ground zero for people overvaluing out-of-context promo work in a way that I think has had a terrible impact on how fans view wrestling and how bookers book it.
There's this endless gay modern cycle of trying to forcibly manufacture "iconic and memorable moments" that get replayed over and over again but forget that these moments feel so important because of how they relate to everything else in the promotion. All plot and no narrative.
