Oh yeah the AEW/WWE war spilled out into the american indies a long time ago, but it hasn't taken hold that much because most indies are just struggling to make money and they'll work with whoever. WWE seems to have a firm working relationship with GCW and all the UWN feds, while AEW employs a lot of indie workers but doesn't have clear-cut alliances with a lot of indies. But as an indie fan, I am glad that Tony allows his talent to take indie bookings as long as they don't interfere with his plans.

There's a lot of people who like the lucha style even if they've never seen CMLL, AAA, or any other lucha-specific show. That started when WCW brought in a bunch of luchadors for their cruiserweight division and Americans got to see that some of these mexican guys are really damn good. Ever since then, American feds have regularly hired luchadors so it's perfectly possible to like that style even if you've never seen it in its natural habitat.

How many times do I have to explain to retards that AEW was in a unique position to poach half of the NJPW roster that won't be replicated anywhere else, because the NJPW guys they signed were already entrenched in the buddy-buddy culture that led to the creation of AEW and they were already close with all the geeks backstage?
Hell, Shelton Benjamin and MVP were in 2010s NJPW too. CMLL is at no risk of being poached to that degree because AEW wasn't explicitly founded as a circlejerk for their guys.
