As far as people that come close to Cena in terms of star power, Reigns is definitely up there and he's WWE's only homegrown success (granted it took him admitting to having a terminal illness to get over) since most of the other top stars came from the Indies.

It would have worked if Seth had started it out as a "Hey lets make sure something like the Bloodline never happens again." And he would try to recruit people to his cause and form some loose alliance. It could have gone from "Good idea Seth sure." to Seth getting more and more power hungry and delusional, trying to dictate what people should do, who they should feud with, and even get paranoid about people who didn't agree to join or didn't listen to him. A slow burn where he turns to Heyman "to keep him away from Roman" etc. This shit is just a low budget Bloodline without the family coconut connection.

I don't think they had a plot in mind first. They had the idea of Heyman screwing both Punk and Roman, and that was a cool twist especially after Heyman and Seff carried the three-way feud until WM, but then nothing happened. Nothing at all, and WM was two months ago.
The closest thing to plot advancement since then was just talking about the future, kinda hinting that's their name and basically ripping off Evolution's gimmick, and MITB which could have been won by Seff alone if they wanted to push him.
It's not even a good stable to push new talent if that's what they had in mind, Bron was over as a mid-upper carder on his own and Sneed is mediocre, there are good young guys that could have used the push.
The whole thing has been a mess since day 1.
