I have a legitimate, non-sarcastic, non-backhanded question about these wrestlers who I only know about from seeing them posted on this board, in association with getting Metlzer stars:
Do these guys actually draw? No, seriously
And I don't mean just the two in op's pic, I also mean guys like Kenny Omega and other Meltzer star-associated wrestlers
I know they're definitely not Hogan-level draws, I don't mean in that way obviously
But do they specifically put a lot of asses in seats, and get consistent loud crowd reactions in the companies where they wrestle? Whether it be in Japan or wherever else?
I'm asking because I can't understand why Meltzer and posters on this board obsess over them to the point where they act like anyone in WWE should want or envy them, just because they get a lot of Meltzer stars. That can't be the only reason

they draw but not huge numbers, Okada wouldn't have been on top in Japan for so long in the biggest company in Japan if he couldn't draw a bit. This place is dog shit at nuance so unless you're El Santo or Steve Austin or something they call you anti draw or dimeless. Would these guys sell out Stadiums? No. Can they draw perfectly fine? Yes. Are they likely paid as if they can sell out stadiums rather then just draw perfectly fine? Almost certainly. This place needs to learn less black and white.

As the other poster said, they drew just fine in Japan. No, not on WWE levels. But they have fans who enjoy them on their own merits.
What it really boils down to is hat you watch wrestling for. Not everyone is watching for that WWE presentation. There are a lot of us who actually aren't watching to see the "draws" - we're watching for the matches. This isn't some "hipster" thing - it's what people originally watched pro-wrestling for until WWF came onto the scene.
I mean, watch these two. They're good:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9i01r2

Or watch Kenny and Okada. They're good as well:
https://www.tokyvideo.com/video/kenny-omega-vs-kazuchika-okada-wk11

Look past the shit people say around here (Oh, they're just indy shitters, they're not draws!). Look past goofy stuff like the outfit Kenny comes out in. Just watch it on its own merits. Can you see why someone *might* enjoy watching this?

They usually hit each other hard and no sell it, but this is a TV show. If they sell blows here that they normally no sell it would look weird.
I find it fascinating how there's this double standard when it comes to AEW. People complain that AEW wrestlers shouldn't sawdust themselves for free TV. So here they decide not to sawdust themselves and everyone complains it looks fake.
I think normally you shouldn't do something unless you can make it look real. But on the other hand, this wasn't a match - they were selling an angle. I see weak looking shots on WWE all the time and no one blinks an eye, but AEW does it and it's somehow just dogshit.
Pro-wrestling only works so long as you suspend disbelief. It's not real. There's the double standard where people suspend disbelief when it comes to the company they watch and refuse to suspend it when it comes to the company they've decided to hate. Most of this shit can be as good or as bad as you allow it to be because, at the end of the day, it's all fake and all looks fake if you hold it under a critical eye.

all he did was prove my point when I said you have to be El Santo or Steve Austin or some shit or you failed. Some of those Dome shows sold multiple tens of thousands of tickets but this faggot frames it in the one negative way he can find. Night one on WK 14 drew 40,000, the most ever is that the sames as the 62k they drew in 97? No, but 40k is pretty fucking good for any wrestling show on earth.

The problem is that they've confused bullshit bad faith scjerk talking points for actual arguments.
They don't understand that a lot of those arguments were making fun of the people who'd make them. I know this because I was the one who pushed a lot of them a couple years ago. E-drones loved me because they thought I was finally giving them intellectual firepower.
They are arguments designed to be retarded and to only appeal to retards. That was the point and it's hilarious as shit to see them in the wild.

Exactly.
The company is the draw. Not any of the wrestlers. They are interchangeable and replaceable by design.
People go to see the company. Not any particular wrestler. They might like certain wrestlers but no wrestler is going to make or break their decision to go to a show.
And if they leave the company, no one is going to follow to see them work elsewhere.

The sad part is edrones think that's how they wrestled back in Japan and representative of the very best Japanese wrestling has to offer.
It's why they're so cocksure when they fire off retarded arguments that show that they straight up don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
And by edrones I mean people who just watch WWE and look down their noses at everyone else. I watch WWE and enjoy it. But it's not the end all be all of pro-wrestling, just the only thing the majority of people have ever heard of.
People underestimate the role exposure plays in WWE being the biggest. A company in Turkey could be putting on the greatest shows you've ever seen and, if no one knows about it, by nature it's going to have lower viewership. That doesn't mean it's not doing something awesome.

That's because Stardom is shoot doing the best stuff in the sport at the moment, which is why people share it so often.
But people reason backwards. "It's not the biggest and it's women anyway so it must be trash." It's basically saying no one watches it so why should anyone watch it - purely circular reasoning.

For me, some wrestlers are "draws" at least when I think about it myself - as in, am I tuning in to this show simply because [certain name] is on it? And then it depends. Sometimes the brand/event/ppv can simply get too much xpac heat for me to turn it on.
For example, I'm a huge Pentagon mark and when he went to WWE I watched some episodes of RAW but ultimately that shit bored me and I stopped.

There are wrestlers who are draws.
It's just that I think the rest of the business leans into the "build draws" mentality more than WWE does, which is why people who only watch that throwing around the "draws" argument is a bit disingenuous.
WWE fans tune in to see the company, not any particular wrestler. You're a Penta fan (who built his name outside the company, one might add) - WWE is only going to hold your attention so far as you like the company itself.
I'd say AEW has bigger individual draws than WWE. But I'd also say that WWE itself as a company is currently a bigger draw than all of them combined, simply by sheer virtue of wrestling fans' relationship to it.

Nope. Okada and Ibushi drew in Japan to a degree but they're in North America now and they can't draw shit here. Omega could draw somewhat when he joined AEW but he's completely fallen off and can't draw anymore. Shitters like Ospreay are outright anti-draws. Meltzer stars are inverse to actual quality. The more he likes a wrestler the worse they are.

Guys aren't going to sawdust themselves by take stiff shots on TV.
That's the problem with people on both sides. They understand the importance of suspending disbelief when it comes to the wrestling they watch. They just refuse to suspend it when it comes to the other company.
It's like people who hate pro-wrestling as a whole, who just refuse to suspend disbelief when it comes to any of it.
