How did Based Tonedog succeed in creating a strong, profitable #2 company while everyone else, including the supposed brightest minds in wrestling history (Cornette, Dutch, Jarretts, Bischoff, Hogan) have failed in the last 30 years?

Because his dad owns an NFL team and that has a lot of away with networks. The only other company that had a strong partner was WCW and losing that partner killed the company (literally.) if Ted Turner has his way, there wouldn't be an AEW because WCW would still be on.

Although I just realized that the three biggest wrestling owners in modern times are Ted Turner, Shad Khan, and Vince McMahon and only one of them didn't own a professional sports team.

TNA Impact's highest rating was 2.2 million viewers. Dynamite's never even gotten close to that, and last week's show only had ~500k viewers.

AEW has literally never turned a profit in over 5 years. It's just Tony wasting his dad's money because it keeps him occupied and away from fucking with Shad's sports teams that actually make him money.

When AEW was beating NXT in the ratings, AEW marks were constantly bragging, dissecting quarter hours, and obsessed with the 18-34 demo. Don't pretend like this came out of nowhere. Once AEW started losing to NXT, all of their dork fanbase suddenly pretend like TV ratings don't matter and they weren't obsessed with them for two years.

They mattered when they were head to head. It mattered because if one side won, then AEW would die. But it didn't happen, and now they aren't head to head anymore and ratings no longer matter to anyone who isn't mindbroken with console war PTSD. (i.e. you)

Even if NXT goes back head to head with Dynamite, it still isn't going to matter because AEW also has Collision and so the counter-programming would have no effect on their business. AEW survived WWE's attempt to kill them, and everybody moved on, except for you guys.

AEW marks were just taking a victory lap over 740k for Grand Slam Mexico. It has nothing to do with head to head. 740k would have been a TERRIBLE rating 2-3 years ago. They're all obsessed with ratings when Dynamite is up, and suddenly are all "Ratings don't actually matter now that people can stream on Max" when ratings go down. Meanwhile, AEW marks never EVER talk about Collision's ratings because they're always dogshit.

Nobody actually cares about ratings. You think it's important because you pretend anything is important if you can use it to attack AEW and its fans due to the trauma you went through. Ratings have literally not mattered since even BEFORE NXT moved to Tuesday, since nothing was changing with them for years and the outcome was obvious. They were a datapoint in AEW's contractual future, and the question has been answered.
