The four men who made Progress, iCW and RevPro the place to watch in the late 2010's didn't join.

Jimmy Havoc, for all the memes and bullshit we know about him today, was the domino effect that hooked people in to the idea of Brit Wrestling. All due in part to his overarching storyline against the company that got a lot of media attention on twitter and reddit. His actions saw them finally have a world title. His feud with the company also provided Will Ospreay attention, so he too could break out and become his own man. His elevation of Will coaligned with the rise of Marty Scurll. Don't forget that Cody, yes, THE CODY, was the reason he got hired for AEW. Meanwhile ZSJ looming in the background at RevPro, showcasing the best of the mat-tech style the UK used to be known for.

Yet none of them joined. All had affiliated with other companies in that timeframe.

What NXT UK / EU ended up getting was the misfits and midcard of both Progress and ICW. Many of whom ended up being outted for being sexpests and/or worse, actually Scottish. Nothing of value was lost in the cut and honestly, American super indies had already picked up the ones that they felt had a chance towards the end of it's peak like Flash Morgan Webster, Kid Lykos and WALTER. Not all of them being hits naturally

Trent Seven is the worst. He has gray hair. He doesn't work out. And he does a 2000's indy moveset with every AJPW head dropping move possible.

Bate is just too small and he doesn't have a personality. He's a good face and a good wrestler and at least he is in good shape.

Dunne has a bad look. His ring gear sucks. He's small and he also doesn't have a lot of personality. His style does work against anyone though. Turns out Vince was right about the Butch thing.

Dunne is bigger than Taz. Heyman would have had Pete very over in ECW. As usual, it's the booking, as in AEW, or Billy NWA, etc. It's garbage and basic concepts like hiding people's weaknesses are too complex for modern bookers to understand.

Reminder that Trent Seven was such a WWE mark, he closed down his successful indie fed / school because WWE told him to do so, and then was fired not long after

I dont know who that one guy is, but I liked Dunne as Butch. He was incredibly entertaining as the wily scrappy doo type character. Triple H made a big mistake changing him back when he was already over.
Tyler Bate also got over with me as a lower card guy. He's fun to watch as a happy silly little wrestler man. Shouldn't be with Pete Dunne, but he could genuinely get over if given the chance I think. Although he should change his shorts. I know my man Vince would have loved him.

Grado knew his lane, he knew his worth. He still does. Why he and Rockstar Spud went to TNA at the first chance provided.
