It was fun but no, it wasn't based. It was a mere copy but it lacked the edge of the original, of Punk feeding off the growing discontent of the fans during the PG era and using it to bite at the McMahons, Haitch and the exhausted SuperCena push. Even if it was a work, it was excellent.
Cena's pipebomb was just 10 minutes of him calling Punk a poopyhead mimicking the original pipebomb, with nothing to say beyond that. I did like that line early on about him liking Punk more than anyone Punk's ever shared a locker room with, only based one.
And Punk won the promo war in the end by taking the piss out of the Thuganomics gimmick kek
