You guys are legitimately the only people that are still talking about this match. It was a fine showing by Montez and did not impact his career. He was not going to be a singles star so early but he was still prominently shown on TV and won the tag titles after. I’m sure if Vince stayed in charge that Montez would’ve had a successful singles run by now

This is wrong. Fox went to WWE and told them they wanted Montez pushed. They liked that he was black, energetic, seemed to be cool with kids despite the hood thing (like yeet boy now) and they thought him and Bianca could be a black Miz & Mrs. for them. This was part of that push. Around this time they were hinting that Montez might break away from his tag partner. They even started a supposed heel turn. Montez got noticeably more buff during that time. Then the match happened and the next thing you know Montez is saying he didn't want to break up the tag team because he didn't know what would happen to his tag partner and wanted to be loyal.
