I don’t even understand how you could think the two companies are even that different product wise. Other than the wrestlers the shows are formatted the exact same way. I think that’s one of the reasons AEW never really took off like WCW did, Tony didn’t do enough to differentiate AEW from TV wrestling we’ve already been watching for years. Also Rock and Goldberg were flawed as top guys because neither of them developed in the territories. Goldberg couldn’t develop his character or in ring work beyond “beat everyone” and his run was short because of it. Rock had to have all of his promos scripted for him which is a lesser flaw than Goldberg but I bet that Rudy poo candy ass could’ve done a bullet point promo if he had spent some time working on the territories

For Rocky yes almost certainly. Goldberg was always such a massive self mark I’m not sure but getting reps working in front of different types of live crowds all over the country is good for any performer getting their start. It’s obvious the territories were great for developing wrestling talent in general, look at how many great wrestlers it produced and look how many faggots are in the business now.
