Frank Miller would think Russo was an idiot, but I'm still inclined to agree with you.

Maybe ECW-era Paul Heyman.

Unironically probably TK given he's obsessed with superhero like dynamics.

dutch mantell? into realistic gritty violence with absurdity (abyss is basically a batman villain) and post-911 adopts a jingoist pro america gimmick. dutch didnt really change the game like miller did though. though given hes one of the only wrestlers in the library of congress maybe its not that big of a divide
Anonymous No.18262844 [Report]

Cornette didn't ruin wrestling forever by making cynicism popular

Am I the only one that liked the sequels? The second book especially. I just like how little Miller gave a fuck what anyone thought of it and just messed around in Photoshop until he produced an unpolished turd like some overconfident deviantart furry. I can't think of a single piece of other media that was so unrelentingly "idgaf" from the author, which makes it extremely based if you think about it. He didn't do it for reasons of selling out or for fan service or for anything other than to make the thing he wanted to make.

It's a shame almost no versions of Batman have been this based since.

Depends what era? The dude went from far leftist, to leftist that supports the police and hates the government because he was robbed to neocon pro war anti Muslim to today where he has massive TDS. If you are referring to the Dark Knight era then Stonecold.

DK2 is one of the most based DC comics ever. Miller worked the capeshit assclowns into a seething rage. The art is unironically better than the first. The black and white version is better, even though the insane colouring has a weird Y2K appeal to it.

DK2 is typical boomer regret shit where Frank Miller is mad at his success and how he positively changed Batman and wanted Batman to be more like Adam West. All boomers are like this. As they get older they regret the edgy shit they made when they were younger. It's why garbage shit like nu God of War exists. In this sense he is 100% like Russo when he "found God" and created some of the worst wrestling programs on TV

Adam West is the purest most original version of Batman. Batman is a pul hero turned cartoon character and if you're going grimdark with it it should be absurdist and funny, like DK2 and All Star Batman and Robin. (Tim Burton and the animated series weren't grimdark). The thing with 'goddamn batman' was that Jim Lee is a retard and wasn't in on the bit, and illustrated it in a basic bitch DC house style. With Miller's bigfoot cartoon art it would've worked.
None of this actually matters though because Miller's Daredevil was always better than Batman

>Adam West is the purest most original version of Batman
Yes and in the 90's people were sick of it and Miller positively changed Batman for the better then got old and like when all people get old regret the edgy shit they did in the past even if it was for the better. He is a hypocrite. Quentin Tarantino was right, old people should not be directors because they eventually lose their edge and this applies to any medium including comics and wrestling

Nah it was backlash against Hollywood putting superheroes in boring grey/black costumes in greyscale movies. They're supposed to be big and bold and colorful and even cringey since it's part of what makes them stand out. In the book the boldness and color came back in style as a plot point, coinciding with them standing up against soulless corporations.

No Miller himself said this was him going against the kind of Batman he regretted ushering in aka boomer regret as they get older and find god or whatever makes them less edgy. Every single comic he makes paints a picture of his current mindset. Holy Terror was him hating on Muslim terrorists. The last DKR comics he made was TDS shit

Miller's works post Dark Knight were much edgier though, he gets shit for it even today. If anything boring grimdark Batman (who still can't kill for some reason) is the safest and lamest version.

That doesn't even negate the point. TDKR inspired Batman 1989 which inspired all the greyscale superhero bullshit, which was an indirect consequence of TKDR and not Miller's original intention even if he feels regret over it happening that way. And I don't know where tf you're getting that the second book was any less edgy. People hated it because it's TOO edgy for their corpo slop molded brains to accept.

Yea until DK2 when he regrets what he turned Batman into
>>18263173
Your head canon doesn't matter. This was the reason why he made DK 2

His goal was to revive the old campier superheroes bringing them "out of the museum"

>"I wanted to drag these Gods and Heroes out of that musty museum they'd been stuck in and drag them back to the streets where they belong."
Maybe you missed that the point was to make superheroes subversive again. It clearly wasn't just about the aesthetic.

Triple Nose. Batman killing Joker (inb4 durr he didn't kill him, he only broke his a neck a bit and Joker killed himself) is like turning Cena heel.

>inb4 durr he didn't kill him, he only broke his a neck a bit and Joker killed himself
That whole rationalization is especially retarded when you remember that Batman straight up killed a thug to save a baby earlier in the book.
