Think about goku vs Vegetas first fight. Both had the highest power levels for the time. But then you get to namek and there's all there's guys that are even stronger and that danger creates suspense. Goldberg did the equivalent of saying that no one on namek is stronger than goku/vegeta from the previous ark. Do you get what I'm saying?

A good story is predicated on building new strong characters, and protecting them. This isn't a new concept. But most wrestling fans and Goldberg are fucking morons so this fundamental concept is lost. The other poster is correct, Goldberg no selling the chops shits on all the new generation who does sell it. Was the spot worth it? Was goldbergs ego adequately satisfied? Is this the ultimate valuable pay off from building up gunthers chops? This spot in goldbergs retirement match on a b level paper view? I'd be pissed if I were Gunther because this is very close to no selling some ones finisher. Do you think maybe Goldberg could have worked in his toughness in another way instead tanking here?

The art of a good performer is that they not only put on a good match from a technical and emotional standpoint but they also protect their opponent, physically and professionally. Goldberg has been a permanent amateur in this respect and it sounds like management rightfully treated him like a permanent mark he is.

You're missing the point. For those matches there was a purpose in building up goldbergs characters for an eventual pay off.

For example, with Brock it created a program that was many months and went on to wrestlmenia and they still wanted to use Goldberg after. And they spent resources to do this which was brocks invincible allure. Brock agrees to this because he's not a mark and he knew he only had so much time left in his career.

This is goldbergs retirement match. You have a pay off in the spot in the match but what did the pay off cost? Was it worth shitting on all the current roster and Gunther? This is what marks don't understand. They only see the spot. But behind it is very jewish arrogance.
