I'm just asking why people hate him. Is that being defensive? Most people won't say, or keep their reasons. The best I can figure out as they genuinely despise AEW beyond all rational logic, and they see Meltzer as being instrumental to its success and therefore they hate him. AEW only represents the backend of Dave's long career. He used to be well respected among most anyone into the insider aspect of wrestling, minus wrestlers and promoters angry about the business being exposed. Cornette would have told you his great friend Dave was easily the best wrestling journalist ever. It was mostly a big happy family of smart fans, then the internet came. Dave has said he ignored it for as long as he could, then he just had email. Dave interacting via letter, phone or email didn't cause any stirs, then came Dave on audio which upset some a little, but then it happened - Twitter Dave and Twitter users and podcasts arguing with Twitter Dave in a confrontational black or white way with Dave becoming more rigid and sensitive and with a lack of self awareness. Social media has caused weird interactions and polarization that didn't used to exist. If you look at Bix, for another example, he used to just seem like a happy go lucky guy looking for Memphis footage on forums, but over time morphed into Bluesky Bix, negative Democrat AEW supporter. I agree with this, because at one time Dave was poignant-- even if sometimes it came from a tangent. Twitter is one of those things he really should've never had, because it broke his brain to communicate that freely with people. Dave's first posts were simply Retweeting old wrestling cards, and maybe providing some background, but then he starting interacting and his autism flared up more than usual because he wanted to be right against people who were fucking idiots.

AEW as a whole though, continued the brain los, because he refuses to let it go. The thing is on pods, he's actually critical of them but for whatever reason, he has to go on Twitter and defend them for everything.

Dave needs to just erase that shit at this point. WON is dead as a platform as is because Alvarez is still running a model that is decades old and refused to adapt with times. It's insane how popular they'd be if they knew how to use YouTube and just went the Free Pod + Paid model.(add the observer to this) Probably work a lot less as well.
