Scott Hall had a notorious eye for talent and called Jerry one of the greatest to ever to do it. During a match the two had once at some indy show, Scott did the whole bit of throwing his toothpick at his opponent. Jerry had a small piece of a toothpick already handy and he stuck it inside his eyelid and walked around the ringside area with it. Literally one of the best improvisational actors in history and could do in the ring on any given night what a Hollywood stunman would have train for months to even attempt and it was all in front of live crowds.

Lawler’s philosophy was the babyface should always chase, and lose 90% of the time. That way fan’s would always come back. It worked, because Lawler would sell out 10,000+ seats weekly in the same stadium. Lawler wasn’t the hero, he was the guy stopping the heroes.
New York’s (WWF’s) philosophy was the babyface should stay undefeated. Bruno, Hogan, Cena, Roman, etc. It wasn’t until the 90s that Vince was influenced by Lawler and other southerners that he realized babyface chasing = a more compelling story.
That’s why the longest reign in the modern eras are all heels, whereas in the past they were all babyfaces
