One of his protรฉgรฉs, Kintaro Oki, brought wrestling over to Korea. There was success until an angle featuring Japanese wrestlers brawling with the Korean heroes occurred. One fan panicked and called the police.
The police interrogated the wrestlers about what happened, and one of them broke kayfabe. It became a scandal in the country, and the President at the time (who hated wrestling) used it as an excuse to take it off television and push baseball instead.
The scene in Korea now is a corpse, a crowd of 1,000 is seen as a massive success now. If you are Korean and want to be a wrestler, you better be an American immigrant or zainichi.
