Bad rivalry. uso refused to have a good promo against one of the best modern wrestlers of all time, he just shucked and jived. Should have gotten the scrapy underdog trying to beat a legend.

If people are going to pop and buy his merch regardless of whether he wins or loses, or if the matches are good or shit, so he doesn't need a title. Also, the champion has to be on call to do media 24/7, so his turning up drunk to the pressers probably worked against him.

I think the pressure of having to be a main eventer despite everyone seeing him as a midcard guy got to him. He was always a sloppy worker, but not to the extent of after the Royal Rumble where he had his infamous match against Austin Theory where he managed to have two horrible botches in under one minute
