Underrated PPV. It is basically the starting point of the transitional period between the New Generation Era and the Attitude Era.
>The Rock's debut
>Undertaker revamping his attire and moveset in his first win against Mankind
>Bret Hart's return and the start of the Austin-Hart rivalry that basically propels Austin as the next FOTC
>The Sid vs Shawn match that exposed the audience's general attitude towards traditional babyfaces and heels and was another prototype for future Attitude Era matches

It was some of the best of the New Generation Era combined with proto-Attitude Era elements.

Royal Rumble 1997 is really fun too, that whole build to WM 13 was underrated.

Kinda make me wish WrestleMania 50 would be held at MSG, even if it's impossible due to MSG's size and WWE only wanting stadiums for their events.

The entire main event build from Survivor Series 1996 to WrestleMania 13 was some of Vince's greatest storytelling. Just a magical fun time. The In Your House: Final Four main event is an underrated gem and honestly a precursor to the Elimination Chamber as a post-Rumble world title contender's match (as it was originally supposed to be before Shawn vacated the belt)

Hot take: I liked this late 96 early 97 era over the attitude era

You're not alone man.
For me it's all of 1996 through to Survivor Series 1998.
After that there's a few things I like but I'm mentally tuning out here and there, increasingly.
The reference to the screwjob was sour, not hot. Left me with a foul taste in my mouth as it Vince was face fucking me right there.
Then halfway through 1999 it becomes unwatchable for me. Too many DQs, too much fucking around.
I didn't even watch 2000, 2001, 2002 or 2003 or anything since until a little bit in 2017 (which sucked) and 3 weeks in 2023 (which sucked).
