I'm risking my neck posting this for two reasons: one, I'm personally getting sick of the current booking style and direction of WWE, and two: internet feedback has a significantly bigger impact than people think and WWE wants to pretend like it doesn't. Obviously I can't reveal sources or post semblance of proof so don't bother.
There's been more than a few rumblings among wrestlers like LA Knight, Raquel, New Day, Kross who are pretty miffed at how Summerslam's turning out and their booking.
LA was apparently legitimately angry about the Seth cash in because while he was told the injury would be a work, he wasn't told the long term goal of it. If he knew the end goal was to cash in, he would obviously want to be involved since it'd force his position to be interacting with higher card people. Instead he's been brushed aside while Seth cashes in and being "deceived" like this so directly put him in a bad mood and left the building soon after.
Many of the staff are patting themselves on the back for "finally managing to pull the wool over the fans' eyes". Apparently that's why they've been so adamant about doing interviews, to create gotcha moments like this to go viral. But some of the wrestlers acknowledge this as a bit silly and a warped damage control on the overt kayfabe destruction over the past few years.
Kross still hasn't been signed, due to "doubts" about him as a prospect, but this is all bullshit. They want him out because he doesn't fit the mold of what WWE wants, he's too offputting, citing "too old time with a valet", "slow wrestling style", "hard to work with (in the ring" and whatever excuse they can come up with. The main idea was for Kross to be given his angle with Sami and just be done with it. What you saw tonight was it. I'm guessing they'll release him and lie to his face saying "it just didn't work out" despite fan appeal and merch sales. Seen it happen more than a few times while I've been here.
