That said, you do touch on a good point. The medication itself will help you lose some weight on your own, but the people you see getting the most out of it are those who are making lifestyle changes. IIRC, Ozempic on its own would probably only make you lose about 15 lbs on average with no changes in habits. Moreover, you will 100% rebound if you don't make any at all. I have seen many patients basically put all their weight back on because they eventually plateaued on their medication and went right back to the exact same habits from before. But this was true about phentermine, the lap band like you mentioned, and bariatric surgeries.
Until they invent a drug that does magically work, weight loss management will always ultimately come down to calories in, calories out.
