How would the invasion angle been different had hhh not gotten injured right before?

Invasion was poorly done all around. I’d have done it better because I’m not a retard like vince

I wonder had he not botched the entire angle and buried everyone, if we would have got a WWE WCW like they did with ECW down the line.

Still would have been shit since the proto invasion was the Radicalz being vanilla midgets.

About a decade ago I really got into the invasion angle and went back on the WWE network and watched a bunch of smackdowns and raw from that time.

I doubt it ecw made more sense because it was a smaller brand and has a theme with it I.e. “extreme wrestling”

Yeah I thought it was a good storyline. I don’t into it because I saw the survivor series match on YouTube and wanted to see how it developed.

This is the real reason. But everyone acts like it was poor booking. Also when they finally got the stars it was Austin being a bitch about facing Hogan and getting booed.

the end of the HHH injury match (the Chrises vs Power Trip)
HHH mistakenly hits Austin with the sledgehammer
HHH doesn't get injured, he'd be feuding with Austin. they were going to split up the 2 Man Power Trip but that whole story went down the drain with the injury. we never got another HHH vs Austin match after No Way Out '01
so i think Austin and HHH would've had their own rivalry going on and wouldn't have been involved so much with the invasion story.
so this turned out to be bad for Austin because he got injured by Booker, that probably doesn't happen if Austin is working with HHH instead.

Austin turning heel was one of the dumbest fucking things WWE ever did.

Couldn't they have stalled the invasion angle on the midcard for a year? Wasn't that all the time a lot of the top guys that would come WWF had left?

2 man power trip explosion would have been a way better story, i wonder who would've been face and heel in that. that tag match, they should've called an audible and have HHH eat the pin since he just got severely injured and was obviously going away for awhile. instead you have HHH gone and Austin looking weak by getting pinned by Jericho
>>18481442
austin turning heel but still opposing vince could've worked somewhat. austin aligning with vince was a bridge too far. killed the company's most over feud and storyline. austin vs mcmahon was what launched that whole era and hooked that generation of fans and the WWF killed it, told you it was all fake bullshit and laughed in your faces

In one post you fixed the entire angle. This is why I laugh when people say that bookers and promoters shouldn't listen to fans.

It had been stalled half a year already.
Early 2001 already had signs the business was cooling off. WWF wanted to move on it in hopes WCW fans would come over.
However hardly any fans were still watching that shit in its final months kek.

pisses me off Austin never got his win back on Gaytch
Austin jobs to Gaytch then looks like a cuck by teaming up with him, the guy who masterminded his hit and run and put him on the shelf for a year. made no sense. almost as dumb as teaming up with vince

i always thought they were pretty half-ass with extending the olive branch to WCW fans.
i was already a WWF fan but if i was one of the WCW-only fans, i doubt i would've switched over.

Bro they were no-ass with that olive branch. They made all the WCW guys look like fucking geeks and made it very clear that Vince had no respect for any of them, or the fans. He had already won at that point, but instead of capitalizing on the opportunity, he played it petty so he could gloat after nearly getting put out of business. I can kinda get where he was coming from, but he could have done so much more with what he had it remains one of the biggest missed opportunities in the history of wrestling.

Wouldn't have really changed. The biggest problem with the invasion wasn't who was was on the WWE side, it was who WASN'T on the invading side. It's insane that Vince didn't just buy out the contracts of the bigger names from WCW and ECW, especially since he absolutely could have. As >>18481545 said, Vince had this weird pettiness that fucked everything over, because he wanted to rub it in the faces of Ted Turner

the very first person the WWF put on screen to show the WCW fans was Vince, Public Enemy #1 for any WCW fan. mindbogglingly stupid. no WCW fan is thinking "hey i'll watch WWF to see vince".
it should've been anyone else. a great respected WWF wrestler. one of their favorite WCW wrestlers switching over to WWF (in the hopes the fans will follow). anything.

on the simulcast episode, I would've tried to hook the WCW fans with a great match. either a WWF vs WCW dream match or a match showcasing WWF talent that would appeal to WCW fans.
