they don't have noncompete clauses, idk why meltzer calls them that. What happens is when the WWE fire someone they give them 90 days notice where they can't get booked or appear on shows but they are still under WWE contract and are getting paid. the C&D probably just says Andrede is in breach of contract and they threatened to stop paying him or there's like a fine associated with violating the contract. they let shontzi's contract run out and she was allowed to work a show like 2 days after because she was no longer under contract. andrade is technically still a WWE wrestler.

This is a heads up and we'll continue paying you through those 90 days but once those 90 days are through we're ending the contract. Office jobs have similar shit with severances as well. It's not an uncommon or unheard of thing in the slightest nor is it anywhere close to illegal. It's literally part of the contract they all agree to sign

Depends on the job and the terms of your exit though. Again some companies offer severance packages that include stuff like hey even though we're letting you go we'll continue paying you for x amount of time. Some include NDAs or provisions that stop you from working for a competing company after if you accept the severance payout as well. Not every job operates exactly the same. Or maybe this is where they went wrong. In what world is WWE going to release a statement saying "we don't care." Clearly they got bum information that was never true in the first place and did fuck all to follow up and actually find out. If I walk into a store and ask a cashier near the front if I can just take a bunch of stuff and they say they 'don't care' does that mean I can just legally take whatever with zero ramifications?

Except they would because they're a part of the contract that the talent sign from the start. They're not sprung on them as a surprise. I mean they're right. When they get the call they're released or whatever the 90 days acts a notice that in 90 days the contract will be terminated. Across those 90 days both sides still abide by the terms of it and the talent still gets paid. That's why they can't appear on tv elsewhere
Anonymous No.19065396 [Report]
>>19065257
It's all depending on what's written in the contracts too. They have them read over with their lawyers or whatever. They accepted the 90 day non-compete which is stated in their contracts clear as day. It's not some fine print they sign and then notice it. Don't forget, Andrade had a contract before, he knows it's in there and now lied to Tony that he's ready to go. WWE had the right to pull him because he violated those 90 day non-compete he signed.
Anonymous No.19065403 [Report]

Yes, so it's a non compete. That's what a non compete is. It's a 30-90 period most contracts come with to prevent corporate espionage. I have a 180 day non compete where I can't join another company in my field for 180 days of my contract is terminated where I'm compensated for the time (I think it's a 180 day pro rota payment paid on the last day of my contract), it's entirely to prevent people from take trade skills and secrets immediately to a competitor in fast moving industries. In the case of wrestlers it's to cool off wrestlers as it's a promotion and visibility based business.

Homie is describing a non compete clause and saying it's not a non compete clause.

Because that's not a non-compete clause. A non-compete clause is part of the contract. It's literally a clause within it, hence the name "non-complete CLAUSE." Instead, this is WWE giving a 90-day notice that the contract is coming to an end. The contract is still in effect for those 90 days, and thus the employee is still getting paid and is still under contract.

WWE should sue AEW. Holding someone to a non-compete without compensation is legally dubious now in Florida. I'd love to see WWE's lawyers argue for it in court.

>Why not have your legal team check this kind of stuff?
Because Megha was exiled for two reasons:
- she was fucking a wrestler that had issues with Punk
- she advised Tony that he had to fire Punk
It's called a "conflict of interest" and Punk could have sued their asses off for a litany of things.

That said, Tony doesn't need legal council for contracts, seeing as he knows so much about them. Including tampering. And he knows damn well that WWE had a non-compete on Andrande. How many WWE guys has Tony signed? Over 70 at least. He knows the fucking deal.

That's impressive, because apparently Andrade didn't, and nor did WWE payroll who would have been paying Andrade for 90 days if he had.

He was fired with cause (failed multiple drug tests amongst other issues). He signed the contract. He knows he's not due 90 days of wages for his bad behavior. But he still has to wait it out. Sorry, bud. It was in the contract. Just be happy that WWE doesn't use this incident to go after Tony and destroy AEW in court.

there's no noncompete clause. andrade is under contract with the WWE. when WWE releases/fires people they give them 90 days notice. technically andrade can work somewhere else, but if he does he's violating his contract and the WWE will stop paying him and refuse to hire him again
>>19065257
he didn't get fired. he got laid off with 90 days notice.
Anonymous No.19067948 [Report]

it's not a noncompete, he's still under contract with the WWE. if he really wanted to he could go on aew, WWE would just stop paying him and not rehire him and he wants to be able to go back to the WWE in 2027
>>19065379
noncompete clauses aren't binding or enforceable. what happens is when you sign with the WWE (or AEW) you sign an exclusive contract where you can't work at another promo while under contract without permission, which is bullshit since they are independent contractors. then when the WWE releases you they give you 90 days notice. so it's like
>hey we are taking you off tv and your contract ends in 3 months.
WWE pays them during that time. if Andrade really wanted to he could go on AEW and wrestle but he would forfeit his pay for those 90 days and WWE wouldn't ever hire him again because he breached his contract. there might also be like a fine written into the contract
>>19065388
it's still 90 days notice. the only wrestlers who lose their jobs without notice and the ones who let their contracts expire like shontzi

No shit Shirley. Tony considers WWE stars having AEW friends at their weddings as "contract tampering".

Tony still lives in Toy World. Mentally. He really believed HBK/HHH stopped being friends with Nash/Hall when they went to WCW.
