After Fifty five years of the Confession of George Glenn's ancestry as the first coordinator in Human History.

Seventeen years after his assassination by suspected Religious and Genetical-purist extremists spurned by the deadly S-Influenza's virus death-toll being few amongst the coordinator race.

Twenty-Six years after the foundation of the PLANT colonies, wherein most Coordinators reside after unforetold violence and hatred befell on them and their genetically-altered birth.

And...

Four Months after the Valentine's Day Massacre.

As the extreme actions of the Earth Alliance's OMNI-Enforcer peacekeeping organization resulted in a coordinated incursion with nuclear armaments and the loss of life of an entire colony's inhabitants.

The question of whether PLANT's militarization was justified from the extreme prejudice of the sponsor nations on earth or simply an upstart attempt at militarizing a complete dominance of space from a genetically superior postulate have been argued as well as the extremes of corruption in the disunited Earth Alliance.

But, in the end.

That still does not erase the counter-action the PLANT's voluntary army force of ZAFT comitted in response...

2 Months after the April Fools Tragedy.

The start of ZAFT's counter-attack introduced the might of the Mobile Suit, a previously space-construction related machinery militarized to surpass the Alliance's best spacecraft and conventional warfare convections.

And worse came, after the Neutron-Jammer emitters came introduced, Tragedy striking as they jabbed themselves firmly within the earth's crust as the long-planned operation Ouroboros commenced depriving the earth of the ability to use nuclear energy and commencing a devastating energy crises that upended the world order and the rationality of it.

It had become from an unjustifiable attack, to a measured counter-offensive, to striking back an atrocity with one of their own.

Such is the nature of War, now divided not only by the expanse of space but also by the prejudice between Natural and Coordinator.

And this bout of Reminiscing has thus reminded you dearly of the day wherein you decided this war... Was now yours to fight...

As time fractured itself from everything that had yet to happen, your hand had chosen a path ahead to carve, in this decisive moment caught up back to the exact beginning of it all.

Where you flew errant of your closest peers, to fight for something right, to correct the atrocities inflicted by both sides

However that may be.

>Joining ZAFT

>One week after the start of Operation Ouroboros.

The sticks on your hand feel... Stiff, considering what you were about to do.

Enlisted recently into the O.M.N.I Alliance Army after a month of boot camp and... Then the N-Jammers happened.

There's a distinct tight-wrapped feeling as your normal suit's padding clings to your limbs, the light-armour plates in its chest somewhat feeling uncomfortable despite how useless they'd be to direct small-arms fire.

It was a stroke of luck to not have been sent to the South America subjugation campaign, you feeling sorry for the clear violence being exerted by the Atlantic Federation over its fellow neighbours.

And some part of you could say that in hind-sight, taking your chances at getting to the PLANTs by using ORB's satellites could have proven far more effective in time... If only their relations weren't so cold and isolated.

You adjust the clear-view of your helmet's visor, already seeing it link with your Machine's operating system for a heads-up-display.

And with it... Came the blaring alarms and the distressing red lights.

"Alert! Unauthorized Launch detected on flight deck 1! Disengage from the Mobile Armor at once!"

Well that's your cue. It's Go Time

Boosting through the now open catapult hatch, the magnetic coiling tries to slowdown your velocity as the Bridge attempts to stop your escape.

But just barely you eke out, immediately pulsing out of the bay as your boosters push off the hull of the black-painted Agamemnon-class you hitched your ride with.

"Ensign! Return immediately lest you-!" The bridge contacts you, managing to as your off-hand tries to find a way to cut off their comms line "Your actions are jeopardizing our mission, have you no shame in being a traitor to-!"

You start stressing out, boosting off into the dark expanse of space as you follow the intel you managed to smuggle into your black box navigation system.

The location of the PLANTs is nearby and you're so close to-.

"You leave us no choice! Remotely disable that Moebius and scour that traitor dead!" The Captain's last words soon make you sweat cold.

With your comms link, your machine is still susceptible to being remotely shutdown as you now scramble your attention to trying to cut it off!

Far off into the distance, ZAFT's officer training school was conducting training drills of upcoming pilots in the main-body Mobile Suit of the PLANTs

The GINN.

Or rather, the mobility and skill required for its operation as one of them soared around the surrounding of the Maius Colony.

It's pilot ecstatic as he performs rolls and pirouettes with the boosters, straying a bit far off from the training area as they let out a jovial laughter.

"Rusty, Stop playing around already!" A GINN with a green fin comments "I know you finally got the boosting downpat, but we're supposed to get in a mock battle now!" As he groaned, the jovially chuckling pilot of the GINN with the yellow fin gently stooped in front of them.

"Aw come ooooon~! You're acting like you didn't get all giddy when we tried out the Tyrfing sniper rifles." They playfully tease the green-fin's pilot as he just groans.

"That's different! Besides-!" Their argument seemed to go on.

If not for both of them to let out confused grunts of discomfort, as their cockpits rocked violently and their mobile suits flinched.

Large splotches of paint now covering their cockpit's armoured exterior.

A red-finned GINN boosted ahead to them both as their mock-rifle smoked out of its barrel, splotches and flecks of paint remnants sticking to its hot tip.

"Didn't you hear the callshot? We started the wargame exercise already." The confident pilot of the Red-finned Suit talked ahead as both GINN's pilots groaned.

"Athrun! You shot at us without even being aware! <i>That's a war-crime!</i>" The yellow-finned Suit's pilot complained as the Red GINN shook its head.

"The only crime here besides your air-headedness is that you're cleaning your GINN after the exercise is over." The red-finned's pilot admonishes the reckless pilot as he groans about it...

Only for the green-fin to scan their surroundings with their mono-eyed main camera "Rusty's right, we didn't hear any shot over long-comms."

All three of them proceed to scan around their surroundings, noticing the fact that indeed, long-distance communication was dead.

"W-Why are the N-Jammers of the colonies on high gear?" The Yellow-finned GINN's pilot commented.

Before a twinkling light in the distance let itself known.

i]You should have seen this coming given how you'd enter!

Soon enough, they open fire, as you start engaging in evasive maneuvers from afar... If your training was-.

You rock in your cockpit, feeling the brunt end of ammunition flying past you and grazing the fuselage of your Moebiues, starting to take evasive maneuvers across their line of fire as you tried to at least equal the one aspect your craft was decidedly superior to the GINN.

Thrust speed.

Quickly kicking the clutch on a dead-stop, your momentum carries away as rounds fly past you, the engines of your Mobile Armour taking a moment to breathe in as they prepared to boost over ahead of them-.

And that's when your comms suddenly acted up.

"-thrun, snap out of it!" A juvenile voice came from ahead as your proximity enabled communications suite picked it up.

"Rusty, I'll take point and try to gum up their main camera!" A more serious voice came in as the Green-finned GINN boosts ahead towards you, double-handing their rifle...

As you punched in your clutch!

You boost ahead, pirouetting and making the green-fin lose lock onto your craft as their shots broadly miss away from your position, quickly notching down your acceleration as you prepared to-.

You were about to boost off, only to rock ahead of your controls as your rear camera is hit with something, startling due to the realization that-...

And start seeing heat signatures pop and chime in to your radars as ZAFT forces begin to crowd the area of your entry.

You slam your comms system one time, Hailing friendly finally as you ping any approaching crafts and flip your IFF blue to try and signify surrender.

If that works now that-!

You can't redirect yourself from this, your inertia simply won't allow it.

But... But you still have time, you have to make it!

Trying to maneuver your thrust to lower it, the GINN begins to boost ahead, stressing you out as you input manual aiming into your stick.

You don't want to hit them, not now, not that you've barely manage to scratch at the PLANTs and surrounded by possibly proper armed GINN's from ZAFT

But... But even so!

A rush of pressure runs behind the back of your neck as a trill resounds in your ears, guiding your stick shift into aiming as the linear gun coils up, preparing to fire a shot as its electromagnetic components let out a noticeably bright spark.

And somehow... Even in this stressful situation.

You can confidently size up the distance of everything surrounding your craft.

>Red GINN Warning Shot: 42 (Minor Failure)

That singular moment of clarity amongst all the disasters in this... Entry.

Carefully seized up in a micro-second, all of it...

Goes out of your hands as you click the firing switch of your stick

The 90 mm shell ejected quickly from the linear gun as a flash of lightning comes past it, spiralling straight towards where you intended to aim away from the Red-fin GINN.

Diverted as the GINN tries to dodge the projectile while maintaining course... Unsuccesfully.

The shell clips across the GINN's armoured plates on its legs before lodging and firmly puncturing through the joints that would conform its knee, smashing apart as they rip away from it.

The pilot no doubt jostling out of control beside you as his now imbalanced AMBAC and thruster output forces him to careen behind you, their severed leg flying off in an opposite direction.

And it all comes down to all the strenous noise pings and alerts immediately blaring on your cockpit, as GINNs surround you proper, weapons bared.

"Shut the power of that blasted machine, Natural!" One of them commands as you near immediately heed the call "Hailing friendly yet shooting at us? We'll see about that... Where's the rest of your daffy pals and your nuke?!"

You'd... Like to answer, if shutting off the engine of the Moebius didn't also short the sender for your communications.

"Damned Natural tech... Take him off to interrogation." The commander of this security division takes over as he seemed to intuit your lack of answer for the mechanical failure it is "And take care with Chairman Zala's Son." You blink at the mention of that before holding tight to your controls as the grouping of Mobile Suits physically take hold of your craft.

The last thing you manage to see of the knee-capped Red-Fin GINN being it caught by their two custom-marked friends...

And you realize that maybe...

This wasn't the way you'd had prefered to introduce yourself to the PLANTs.

You really opened your ears up as you were unmasked, handcuffed and immediately dragged away for interrogation.

At least... For the moment that you managed to catch the name of the Colony you had been moved in.

Aprilius city and if you were hearing right, you're being hauled for-.

"Cooperate already you damn Natural!" The interrogator soon sparks you awake from your own musings of your situation as they slam their fist in the table in front of you "Just tell us where the detachment you came with is located and your intentions!"

That's an... Issue.

"I uh... I don't know." you see the man raising his eyebrow quizzically as you just cleared your throat to explain "I mean, my detail was really vague, I got pulled out from Bootcamp and straight into a mission..." You shift uncomfortably in your chair as there's a knock by the door.

This certainly seemed like the last time they'd ask that question, because you're not going to lie, from their point of view. You're kind of clueless about everything.

But it does make you think why the alliance wanted a way to furtively pass around Jachin Due station?

Sure it was part of PLANTs control and the ear had been declared for a long time but...

Something about that black ship you boarded for three weeks unnerves you, nevertheless the few crewmen that didn't nod you off or pull rank upon you.

They all seemed... Unstable.

"You've got to be kidding me." The interrogator commented as they pushed away from the door "If you're the kind the Naturals send to our colonies, It's no wonder you had to play so under-handedly." He rambles annoyed as they pulled off some papers in front of you.

And explained ahead that they're going to uncuff you, as you cursively read the contents within.

This is a POW filling.

"Uh... I think this is the wrong-" You tried to object as you were handed a pen.

"Shut it, our engineers are analyzing the contents of your Black Box, you're lucky you ended up being completely useless to us despite your stunt." They tried cutting you off as you frowned, insisting ahead.

"That's not it, I came here to Join ZAFT!"

There's a pause as you yelled, the man giving a cursive look... Before groaning.

"You've really had to pick the worst kind of entry."

You cringe a bit, feeling sorry for the fact that he's very much right but... That still doesn't change your objective.

"Fine, Natural. Just speak so I can get someone to fill in your papers."

And that you did, as you were asked basic questions upon your background such as...

Where did you come from?

And kept up-to-date on the findings being made as they looked at the progressing interrogation suddenly turned into a recruitment.

"He has to be a spy, there is no doubt about it." The aged, gray-haired person says as he clung closely to the glass pane.

"I would not consider that given how disorganized his entry was" Another aged man comments, pulling the attention of the former as he folds their arms.

"The brief chemical and polygraph tests we did. Do reveal he's telling the truth, including in regards to the ship he made their way with." A person of long, dark hair comments from a screen.

"And he's plenty stupid, I've already commissioned a search team, just waiting for the gearheads to crack his Mobile Armour's black box." A woman of silvery hair adds in another screen as another politely coughs, prompting the woman to smirk.

"Unrequited moniker aside, I am somewhat intrigued at having the Alliance's top-of-the-line unit unscrapped... Though, weren't they orange in the reports?" Another mentions as the second older man in the room nodded.

"Correct... But I believe the Eurasian Federation's draft and plan couldn't be supplied at the demand of the Atlantic Federation's production." He comments as the man of gray hairs frowns.

"Natural Animals... To send that kind of people to the slaughter. Fitting for such heartless-." The man stops as another person, a woman joins in one of the monitors.

"Supreme Chairman, Reporting on your son's well-being. He's fine just standard cockpit bruising, and the GINN will be repaired over the course of the wee-." That much seemed to considerably calm the aged man as he raised his hand.

"Understood, Everyone, dismiss yourselves while I concern on coordinating Mckenzie's response to the attack." The man commented as screens dimmed and transmissions were cut...

Leaving only both men alone as they stared at the recruitment going underway.

"Zala, it was not an attack." The blond-haired man stated firmly as the aged man stopped.

"What do you suggest I should tell the people of the colonies?" The man comments, starting to sound irritated "Siegel, you of all people should remember the exact same kind of craft was used at Junius."

"Even so, We've been sitting here listening to this Young Man's testimony. But it's as if you've come here with your judgement already set." The blond man tries to hold their companion shoulder only for it to be pushed off.

"He shot my son." The man seemed resolute of the fact as he looked at the interviewed Natural.

And widened their eyes as a small confusion erupted in the interrogation room.

And this entire recruitment had come to a halt as you're flabbergasted at the recruiter's reaction to you asking to be a pilot.

That is. Utter bewilderment.

"Natural, you're out of your mind if you think you can even manage a Mobile Suit." The man tried to downplay the request "Listen, it's not an attack on your skills, you simply won't be able to pilot a Mobile Suit. Ever."

That-... That feel nebulous at best.

"Has anyone tried? Not saying I could do it, just..." The man looks down on you from your chair as you tried to argue your case.

"They're delicate machines far too complex for your brain to wrap around, if your Moebius at top speed was already hard to- Why am I even- Listen, do you want to be a comms officer or a rear echelon special-?!"

The man stops as there's a knock on the door, him attending to it and getting wide-eyed, whispering something to the other side...

And then making his exit, as an older man made his way in, quickly being given a salute by the interrogator.

"Supreme chairman... It's an honour having you supervising but... Do you-?" The man seemed unsure, dropping their salute before the older man raised his hand.

"Yes, leave us."

On that cue, the interrogator left and now.

Now you face this man, as he sits down placidly in front of you.

"Good Afternoon, young man... Or should I call you, Frieden Moon?"

There's something... Different in attitude about this man, like he isn't sizing you up as a threat or a nuisance and...

It's refreshing, by a long shot.

But ultimately, the man also avoided your call for being a Pilot for ZAFT as he seemed to be far more interested in learning about your background and your reasoning for defecting from the Earth Alliance.

Seemingly surprised to learn you felt sympathy for them over the Bloody Valentine's Massacre and...

Well, It didn't originally start there.

So... You were just Sixteen at the time.

And having joined a Fencing club from a young age, you'd already thought for the most part that life in the Eurasian federation was... Far smoother than it could be elsewhere.

That is, until a new member came in, from a particularly wealthy family.

Was he skilled? Very, a lot of people had their doubts on a coordinator competing with Naturals but, to the few that rose to the challenge and didn't mind the harsh climb up.

It was different, even being amongst the few who could put up astch together, everything was taken in stride in the end.

Because while he was plenty better in general, he could still be bested and didn't mind that much, broadening skills amongst the rest of the group...

And yet, Three years before the war officially started and there were already signs of it.

He did try to keep a secret of his true identity as a coordinator. But it got progressively harder as odd screenings started being pushed on competition grounds.

And then came the grand blockade of the PLANTs.

"I believe that was amongst one of our periods of further populace migration." The aged man noted as you nodded "But... What was this young man's name?" He asks inquisitively as you squirmed slightly on your seat.

"Etie Eclair but... I don't think he's on the PLANTs."

Recounting it really made you realize how much of a big issue Eclair had in making that scene at the club as the conversations turned to the politics of the then-current ZAFT formation.

Particularly how outspoken he was on the sponsor nation's resolute demand that Junius colonies couldn't be turned into self-sufficient farming colonies.

You still remember him drawing his paring blade at someone calling bull on the realities of the nations attempting to starve out dissent from the PLANTs.

And then came the moment wherein he asked you to follow him, big time.

Because you both got involved out in the street a large-scale protest having formed out of the Atlantic federation superceding a vote to subtract the autonomy of the voting blocs in the Eurasian Federation to feed funds and manpower to the then recently formed OMNI-Enforcer.

And it went... Bad.

You'd met a lot of faces that you know for a fact, you aren't going to meet again, after the military got involved as the protest attempted to halt the procedures of the mass-driver in Gibraltar and...

Paid for it in blood.

"A lot of people were arrested once they started shooting at us and... I managed to escape without being identified." You finish recounting as the old man nods "Look, I understand that things have worsened since then, but... But I'm trying to make a change for the better!" You demand ahead as the man closed his eyes and thought upon it.

"Quite... But at your young age with such ambitions..." The man notes as you grip your fist tight "I worry that you think you can take on the world and win handily over issues far longer-spanning than-."

You end up standing from your chair, once again getting doubted on your intentions for the last time

"If I don't, who will?!" The man flinches lightly at your outburst as you suddenly stammer, aware of it "I... I know it looks suspicious of me, but I really want to make a difference and... Unfortunately, I have to do it with my own hands."

The man seems to take note of that as he grabs your recruitment papers half-filled out, giving them a cursory examination.

"I am aware you were piloting that Alliance craft earlier in your entry and managed to outsmart three of our trainee cadets." The man comments as your brow enlarges.

Crap! With the length of the interrogation, you almost forgot about-.

"Have you ever qualified for any special training while at your stay in its ranks?"

Eh?

Well, that's...

You try and recount as much as you were taught about Piloting in bootcamp, managing to excel pretty handily at it and...

Then being pulled into a test as you did your last few days before being assigned this mission at Artemis.

"We were put on a dark pod and then we'd simulate multiple encounters in reaction times... i didn't really score high there but I know some people in my graduating-." You hold yourself off from continuing further as the man nodded.

"I see, then this marks this interrogation concluded." The man stands up as you stay there, a bit puzzled over what's going to happen to you as he reaches for the door.

And opens it, holding himself back as they looked back to you "if you would accompany me, young man Moon?"

Oh uh, what?

"For real?" You ask confused at suddenly being let go of custody but... In this case at least considering how you arrived but...

Well, you're escorted out by him and a few guards who seem equally puzzled at the old man's choice.

Walking off into corridors and an elevator ride later and...

You're now sitting on a transit shuttle, still confused as hell to see this man get... All this reverence from anyone wearing a ZAFT green jacket around.

Allow me to introduce myself." The old man says as you finish latching your belts, somewhat being piqued in curiosity as the man gives a small bow.

"I am the supreme Chancellor of the PLANT council, Siegel Clyne. I tend not to be ostentatious about it but... I noticed you didn't understand that part just yet."

Oh... Oh Crap, he's...

So that's why all the reverences. M-Man, you're starting to get dizzy...

Ultimately, the findings upon the Moebius blackbox recorder brought upon light the formation and the flight path it had taken off its own warship, the Agammenon-Class vessel Nobody.

In particular plans unveiled to sabotage the PLANT's Neutron Jammer generators in retaliation for the April Fools Massacre, its crew filled with eight Moebius Mobile Armours and four experimental Moebieus-Zero craft and pilots from a project codenamed "Ulysses"

Staffed with menial crew barely informed of the true extent of the operation, Loyalist Stlantic Federation ranked staff were informed of the acquisition of their experimental craft and pilots and instructed to keep them secret.

So much that brief has been informed, as their course was to be made in secret, slipping past fortresses such as Jachin Due and taking advantage of the push of ZAFT in its infant Earth-drop campaign.

And as the black-ship Nobody has been sighted upon by the Squad of GINN recon and high-mobility types, it thus, remained still, silencing all communications.

These black ships will thus, become an unfortunate constant upon ZAFT as the pilots of the recon squad approach the vessel for boarding, as its heat signatures almost laid deadly cold

The shuttle ends up allowing you into Martius One, as your nerves upon being seen alongside the supreme leader of the PLANTs get the better of you.

Perhaps even worse as he invited you into a private limousine ride after being provided with a change of civilian clothing.

"I-I'm starting to think that...-" you brave up after a half hour of silence from you as the aged man placidly conversed with their chauffeur only for them to turn to you as you quiet down resolutely.

"Pardon, I'll admit that I've personally never boarded a defector of my own. Nevertheless one that wishes to be a pilot." the sort of genuine admission lets you drop your guard and nerves as the man guided you to look at your side.

Young men and Women in yet-to-be-branded red and green jackets exiting a large building emblazoned with ZAFT's sigil at its front.

"That is the main ZAFT academy, there are many other sub-bases across the PLANTs but starting tomorrow, you should head there to get confirmed on our ranks" You look back to them as they mention this "I have some other locations to show you around but-."

He just...

"Hold on, what about the mobile suit-" You state as the aged man shook their head.

"Complicated machines, yes. But while not efficient, you may still be able to maneuver in them with the aid of-"

You contain your creeping excitement at the prospect as the Limousine continues its course.

Various other locations around Martius being showcased for you to know about as you're slowly but surely being shown around the expansive colony and-.

Finally stopping upon a residential block as you and the aged man walk inside into one apartment.

The artificially dusking sky of the colony filtering onto the curtained window.

"I trust everything has been in order by now, young man?" The aged man asked as you just nod enthusiastically.

Because you're not going to lie, you're drop-dead tired once you sit down upon the small sofa.

Groaning lightly, you somewhat try to hear up the aged man as you rest your wearied neck by the sofa's backrest-.

And stop as you see someone in a green jacket under a white labcoat appear before you.

"You're the natural who flew into the PLANTs, right?"

You kind of just absent-mindedly confirm that as you nod your head to it, resting down for a bit before... Thinking it closer on admitting that one question.

You end up not fully able to regret it as the figure puts its hands on top of you.

The immediate sleeper-hold you find yourself in hurts a lot.

The person currently holding you behind the sofa being considerably smaller than you is another fact that hurts.

"Margellan, I understand your concern, but I contacted you for a reason." The aged man calls away as you're let go, suddenly breathing and heaving for breath as you hold your chest.

"Alright then, Natural. You deserved that one for adding to my workload with that entry of yours... Sweet ride though" The small figure makes a wave of their arm before rubbing their chin "Relatively backwards for our tech... But, still, pretty sweet"

A young man of about 5'5'' dressed in the green rank uniform of ZAFT, a labcoat with credentials for a ZAFT engineering team embroidered in the pocket protector at their chest as a blond, long ponytail rested a scant few inches atop of it, Green eyes looking off into a wall.

"This is Ephraime Margellan, one of the few people I can trust with the truth about your entry into the PLANTs." The aged supreme councilman explains as he nods "While eccentric, they're a man of good word and ethic. I am sure you both will-"

He's cut off for a moment as the ponytailed man raises his hand "Yeeeeah, that depends. For the moment just rest and I'll breach you on the projects I want you involved in. For now. Just know I'll continue tinkering with your Moebius for the time being."

He soon bids himself farewell and with that... Remain the last thing Clyne wanted to broach to you.

"As of this moment, We'll be covering up your entry, consider it a favour to start fresh and anew." The man spoke up as you listened intently "And... I know the intention may be different than how you'd expected but... It's an unfortunate situation of the war."

He seemed dejected as he showed you a trainee green jacket to your hands...

And the black band tied around its right arm.

"Because of the war, unfortunately from now on, you must always let it be known that you're a Natural in our midst... Hence this Black band to prove it."

It... Didn't feel proper to know that you had to self-identify at all times.

You had seen those black bands beforehand but you thought that was a fashion statement not...

Well, this.

Looking at yourself in your trainee uniform you feel...

Spry, despite the aforementioned band feeling a little off by your opinion.

You know there's red variants of these but allegedly they only go to prestigious or noteworthy people that join the militia.

Possibly commissioned officers, if you wanted to link it to what you already experienced in the Alliance's bootcamp. Though there is a bit of a shake-up of structure as you join in the ranks of this voluntary group.

In particular, because you're stopped at the entry over some dubious paperwork, sorting it out quickly as the white-coated officer at the gate thinks of it absurd that you qualified as a Pilot with that black band.

It's already starting trouble for you and it doesn't feel exactly good.

But all that sorted, it's time to join in the course! Sure maybe it'll be like technical school like you attended before enlisting into OMNI-Enforcer given the lack of ranks and stuff.

And allegedly you've skipped two months of the curriculae, but Clyne said that your practical experience and Alliance camp should suffice to fill the blanks.

So... That begs the question of the millenium as you're seen by everyone in your class like a deer in headlights.

A blond dark-skinned young man being the first to say something as you finished introducing yourself... And not exactly good.

"Is this a joke?"

It really wasn't but... You were happy to prove them wrong in a playful manner!

Overhearing questionable gossip over the Natural placed in training as a pilot.

None of it is really polite conversation, but you still try not to get it to dampen your mood at your first proper day at the ZAFT academy.

It beats the first day at Alliance Boot Camp so far.

"Yoooooo..." Someone quickly calls you up as you decided to sit alone in the mess hall, a young man of bright red hair sitting down beside you "Noticed the band and all, but aren't you in our class?" He raises the question up as you...

Don't really know him and think you should given the red colour of his uniform.

"Ah crap, right, you skipped formal induction." The young man looks off to another table as he seems aware of being watched over "Rusty McKenzie, pleased to-."

His introduction was interrupted by another red-uniformed young man of silvery hair, one who seemed to look at you in contempt.

"Rusty, why are you wasting your time on this joke?" He just rudely stated as the redhead shook his head.

"Hey, he managed to be selected as a pilot! I know Naturals can't really-" he seems to trail off from saying further as he stares at you "Listen, he's probably something special if he managed to come with us even skipping induction."

You uh, you could say that as you munch away at your ration of bread.

"Naturals can't pilot a mobile suit, Period. I don't beat on the weak but he doesn't belong with us." As he stated matter of factly you...

Felt like it was time to properly put your foot down over the implied abuse now that it started being more than a pass at a joke.

"What if I proved you wrong?" You chance up, taking a swig of a water bottle as he...

Chuckled.

"Hah! I wouldn't hold a candle on it, Mangy Dog." As he seemed to go his separate ways after putting you down in attempt.

You shrugged it off, to the surprise of McKenzie as he laid up.

"I can't really recommend picking a fight with Joule myself, but...-"

"Give it a week."

McKenzie seemed confused at what you meant before you decided to look over at the table.

"Once I get some good time and hang on Simulation, I bet I could beat anyone from that table of his."

And Rusty for his part, just seemed to look as if you were boasting off too hard.

Maybe you were, but the sly smile creeping up on his face as you asked them who were the three best pilots in that group summed up his involvement.

"Alright then, Skipping Nicol and Myself There's..."

Rusty seemed... Off-put by you aiming so high for your choice.

And his brief mention of this Athrun guy being a councilman's son does make you reconsider.

But you had the rest of the day to even well, touch-up with the MS simulator, given that your entry beforehand had prohibited the proper machine exercises so as to clear any debris in-.

"Hey! Check it here!" You heard a pilot pulling their head out of an unsealed faux cockpit "We got a new machine to try out in this firmware update!"

You're piqued with curiosity, having never seen anything past a GINN by your own eyes neither in training but...

Once it came into your turn, you realized why the cockpit had adjustable retractable controls and displays inside it.

A Moebius is here.

The cockpit sealed up as you stare at the selection display between a GINN and a... CGUE?

Huh, that shield of it does look tempting but-...

You decide to try and get accustomed to a GINN slowly, as your training drills were going to be solo against some old Mistral-class craft.

It proved...

Far more challenging than you'd expected as you were very close to being shot-down in the simulator due to some furtive tactics employed.

In any case you were let out early, acknowledging that maybe the way ahead would be far, far more arduous than you had originally thought of.

Because having given a look to that Zala guy's feed of his Sim-Footage, He was truly deserving of the high-praise Rusty gave him.

Still, being called over by that Margellan guy to the far-end of Martius 10 is a real hassle of s conmute now that you think of it.

But in the end...

"You took your time, Natural." The blonde engineer commented as he grabbed a labcoat from a coat-rack putting it on as he slided his credential at a security checkpoint.

"The shuttle was delayed by some ZAFT drills earlier, sorry for-" You try to explain as he shushed you, raising his finger up.

"Not drills, Recovery of a recon team." he commented ahead before turning to a lift, jabbing a button low on the layout as he crossed his arms "We found your ship using the trail of your black box recorder, so I'm ready to get onboard of that."

You have to admit that there's a degree of distaste you're having with the lack of transparency the PLANTs council has in regards to things that happen around it.

Then again, with the massacre and now your whole being here... Maybe they do have a point to try and keep the peace at home.

"Still... I called you in here for a reason." The man says as the lift's gates open "Well, more like three. But we only have time for my pet project."

Eh?

You let out your confusion in a gasp... Because then you saw it illuminated before you.

A winged-craft Mobile Armor, a Red-Monoeyed sensor lighting up at its front before turning itself off, hydraulic pressure disengaging in loud noise as the sensor array revealed a cockpit's linear seat.

What is thi-.

"I forgot to ask, I assumed your background would fill in." Margellan mentioned as they walked down the chainlink stairs leading towards the craft "Can you fly a plane?"

You... Well. "I was taught how to along with the Moebius... They're pretty similar-."

"Good." He interrupts you as you both approach the craft "Can you fly a plane at a half-decent level of skill?" What are they?

"Y-Yes? You're not really telling me to-?" You try to say as you... Aren't going to lie, performed far more than decent back at Artemis' simulators.

"Good. Then you'd better not crash it. I'm off." The man started to turn, preoccupied with the salvage he had previously mentioned as you told him to hold on quickly... Something that made them stop as they turned their emerald gaze back.

"Ah, right... Technical staff will assist you, I only want a proof of concept for its flight capabilities in and out of atmosphere."

And just like that, as he pulled a hefty but small book, he'd thrown it behind him as you caught it.

"Now... Don't crash it, if you survive that... You certainly will not survive me."

Yikes...

Right. You end up looking at the cover of it, a technical manual of the craft in question.

The name does catch your eye.

FLUGG.

It took an hour of prep as you read the technical manual to the best of your ability.

You frankly weren't going to lie and brag that you're the kind of ace that can just drop into a brand new machine and fly it.

But all of these specs seem far more in-line with the Spearhead jet you were taught to pilot over basic...

What does this linear cockpit thing even mean however?

"Check five before deploying. Natural. Are you ready?" Your headset rings as you fix it well under your helmet.

"I have a name you know that?" You complain lightly after a whole day of being called Natural starting to grind at your patience.

"Riiiight... Check four, We're going to track its performance in space, disengage the VTOL gyro-verniers and prepare to enable the linear cockpit system on our mark." You nod to that as you sigh, admittedly not getting an ounce of respect in the process but.

Soon feeling your craft moving about out of your control as you rolled in all the sensors and cameras of the craft.

You're somewhat disoriented by the entire cockpit lighting up.

You react startled as the entire craft's surroundings are displayed within the linear-seat and close-by dashboard and controls. It being wheeled over to a platform.

"Check three. You enabled it before our call, did you?" They chastise you lightly as they sighed audibly "Your heart-rate spiked up, but we admit that the technical manual was vague about the vision-range of the system."

You're however, quick to try to steel your nerves as you're explained on it "Sounds neat, but why does the GINN not have such a technology?" You have to argue as the technical staff at the end of the line hums a tone of exhaustion.

"Because it's quite redundant to the cost-effective sensor array of it and..." He seemed to stop, their microphone rustling for a moment as if they were checking their surroundings "It's Margellan's pet project of his to make a plane superior to any Natural's in and out of atmosphere."

Well, that'll remain to be seen.

"Right, Check two. Readying for launch" As you finish clearing out your landing gears and getting fully integrated into the Colony's test catapult.

"Honestly, I'm astonished at what's the purpose of this craft besides proving an arrogant point." The operator complained out-loud before clicking their tongue "No matter, Weapon and formation integration testing's on the down-low and we just want some mobility testing this week."

And like that, the catapult hatch is cycled, slowly opening its outwards hatch as you take hold of your controls.

"Check one. Take-off on our mark."

>Out-of-atmosphere mobility test = 79 (Minor Success)
You rocketed forth out of the chamber as you adjusted the thruster and vernier output to stabilize your-!

"Whoa!" Spiralling to the right as your the wingtips of your craft tip upwards, you have to do some accomodating maneuvers, the machine being far too sensitive and twitchy as you tried to coast off a turn.

But you do at least manage to fly your craft straight after them "I suppose we'll have to tweak the response to your reflex rating... What's even the point then?" technical staff let out as you started to test broad turns and and small inclines of your plane's profile.

Standard evasive maneuvers that Moebius could do with ease and man, this thing felt like butter and tries to slip out of your hand like it.

"It's... Fine! I'll get used to it by the week!" You argue back as you push your joystick forth, quickly testing out the G-forces sharp turns and roundabout pirouettes would have in it as you clench your teeth.

Sifting by the pressure built up in your normal suit as you steer the nose of your plane back to a neutral position, you let out a groan of exertion, stabilizing the output of the verniers into a more standard cruise speed.

And remembering that the technical manual included options to overboost and steer in around a 180ยฐ position of the plane.

Even goaded into trying it, you're not doing any of that on your first day of piloting this thing lest it knock you out in the pilot's seat

So as you ask for support in testing, it soon comes in the form of an augmented reality mobility course, flying around virtual rings across the entire Martius City cluster as you struggled with how twitchy yet powerful the acceleration and steering in this FLUGG is.

But soon enough, and while not getting any marks, you manage to at least complete the simpler set of training courses in two hours of grueling turns and pearl-clutching maneuvers.

"Man, Starting to get tired here..." You comment as you not-so-smoothly docked to the mobile workers aiding in your recovery.

"Well, you still have an hour to go." Margellan's voice shook you awake as you soon found his face glaring at you from the panoramic cockpit "Conditions aren't really favourable for confidentiality at testing, but you can at least fly it for a while to test its VTOL take-off."

There's something of a chip on their shoulder as the blonde man glared intently at you... Which motioned you to ask.

"Anything wrong at the moment?" You asked innocently as you docked in to the colony, being processed in as hatches pressurize the chamber...

It chilled your blood then and there.

The whole bustle and somewhat graceful landing into the PLANTs had made you almost forget entirely how is it that you came through.

And the technical staff didn't really have much to say on it as you were transported over to a mock runway, vehicles clearing out of the way as they transport mobile suits from the shipyard's parade grounds it actually was.

You simply proceed through all check stages with any simple affirmation and commands as you feel the atmosphere certainly changed by the arrival of that detail.

And...

>In-atmosphere flight testing: 100 (Majour Success)

There's immediately something off about this plane as you take-off.

"This thing is lacking in a constant output." You immediately denote as you manually start touching up the VTOL gyro-thrusters output and notice it lagging behind and spiking.

It's not throwing you off any side of your wings, but it denotates something off-the-bat in that it was built without taking into account the FLUGG's weight.

"Fine, we'll take those annotations, do three laps across the shipyard and you're-." You hum affirmatively to Margellan's command switching systems and gripping your controls tightly.

Before boosting off forwards, immediately noticing something odd from your panoramic screen.

There's a trail following your boosters.

"Ummm, is this for training purposes?" You ask quickly as you make some adjustments in your inclination, unsure if you're imagining it.

"What is-? No, the propellant works as intended, what's the hassle?" He complains as you wonder how to better argue it.

"You... Might get a call from the atmos technicians of the colony. The Spearhead ditched those chemicals too." You mention as you complete your second lap and doing a thorough check "not enviromental concerns, but combat effectiveness. Mach's 4 and up create a trail that's easy to follow with modern-!" The blonde engineer lets out a groan that spooked you as you could hear a muted argument from his side.

"Land the FLUGG, you damn- I am TRYING to make a superior plane! Which means having propellant for both Vacuum and atmosphere! Stop your yapping about the air quality, we have enough of it! "

Right, you suppose the mic being muted after that just meant the technicians came right on cue.

You soon drop out of the experimental plane and prepare to head home, attempting to avoid facing Margellan as he no doubt is going to try and get a full recoup of your own.

And then you see it.

You're... Somewhat confused over it, until you'd heard one of the airlocks at your side open up.

A young man, not that much older than you but certainly not of age coming in and stopping to stare st you by a side-glance.

He's... Not on uniform nor has anything that would denote him belonging in the shipyard's operation.

But he seemed to pass-by as he proceeded to ignore you, staring at the black band on your arm before paying his full attention to the glass window, the Moebius being displayed a few levels below.

"Y-yeah, I... I'm surprised too." You try faking your own concerns over the price that had been paid for it, as technical crew were readying themselves to transport the Mobile Armour.

"I'm not." The young man commented with a certain gravitas as he looked back to you "Why are you here?"

Oh right, it probably does look off for you being-.

"Oh, Yeah. Frieden Moon. I was piloting an experimental craft for uh..." You extend your hand forth for a handshake as you end up not actually knowing Margellan's rank.

"So you piloted that plane... That still doesn't answer the question." He scoffs again as the Moebius is pulled off away from the loading area.

"I uh, I don't follow." You raise an eyebrow in concern, acknowledging that maybe he was just... Being judgemental about the band in your arm.

"I feel that you do, That Moebius is here as the payment, just as you are." The riddle weirds you out for a moment, because... You oddly feel he's aware of-.

"So, do you know the names of those that were sacrificed?"

You sweat cold, before the airlock beside the young man opened up.

This guy... You'd swear you'd seen his face somewhere.

"Rey, I was looking for-." The man turned to the blond teen before turning to you "Ah... You must be Moon." The pleasant smile he gave you made the tension between you and the young man beside him vanish.

And, he seemed to slink back behind him as the man takes your extended hand, shaking it firmly.

"I assure you that Head Engineer's Margellan's attempts to pin the pollution of the Colony's atmosphere on your name won't go anywhere." Are you kidding me?

That... Detail aside, the man took a polite step-back before looking at the blond teen beside him "Ah, I believe you two should know each other." The man said as he led forth for them to shake your hand.

And...

There's an odd feeling across your body as your hands touch.

A jolt that shocks you across the palm of your fingertips and coursing through your entire body

"Son of a-!" You hold yourself as you keep weaving your fingers "Margellan gave me this dumbass new cockpit and maybe-!" You hold yourself from fussing and cursing as you look forth.

>??? = 81 (Majour Success)

The young man in front of you looks at you with a palid expression, blinking twice before taking a few steps back.

You uh... Did you do an involuntary funny face or something?

You straighten your expression into an involuntarily goofy smile as the young man takes a few steps back, seeming unsure over something as they place themselves behind the dark-haired older man.

"I suppose that would suffice for an introduction. I'm Gilbert Durandal, the Chief Medical Officer within the PLANT council." The raven-haired man introduced themselves as you nodded, trying to look behind him to the teen. "I was intending on approaching you for some ongoing testing now that we have that Natural spacecraft so this eases communicating that much."

He now notices your interest on the young man as he closes his eyes "Ah, I suppose him being out-of-uniform piques your curiosity, this is Rey. One of my Aides in my research aboard the PLANT's spatial-awareness testing." You raise your eyebrow at that...

Because you'd swear you'd heard that word back at Artemis.

Spatial Awareness, an old Pre-Cosmic Era adoption belief of individuals naturally adapted to expand into the stars, their senses refined to account for the vast ranges of the stars.

And in a more esoteric way unbefit of the Alliance's regiment, Understand one another to progress within the final frontier

Something sorely lacking given the start of this war.

In any case, this Durandal fellow is telling you of some starting tests for that project... That would take away some of the free time you'd have, though he's understanding enough to give you a week of leniency.

>Get started right away with this spatial awareness program.

Some kind of a "manager" game where the players are in a control over one of the sides that would develop and or sell MS or MA. Could have an angle where our side wants some independance from Zeon and feddie autism. But that could strain you with things that would need to be tracked for such a quest.
If not that then i could be down for piracy. Not the crossbones kind, i mean the occupation kind.
